Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ High school diploma or equivalent and
+ 4 years of experience in drafting, civil or mechanical design, or
+ an equivalent combination of education and/or experience.
Preferred Knowledge, Experience, And Training
+ 5 years of experience in the drafting field, familiarity with water renewal (wastewater) treatment facilities and strong mechanical aptitude.
Licensing And Other Requirements
+ Valid state-issued driver's license.

+ City of Boise background check processes which includes a criminal history check and reference checks in accordance with the City of Boise Hiring Process Regulation

Essential Functions
Handles moderately complex issues and problems and refers more complex issues to higher-level staff. Is capable of performing basic to moderately complex issues and provides team support and training, as needed.
Prepares design and construction drawings and layouts using AutoCAD and Civil 3D, working from engineering specifications, notes, sketches and red lines.
Coordinates drawing numbers with consultants. Maintains the drawing database by issuing numbers and uploading as-built record drawing images. Works closely with the survey department to define limits and arrange necessary topographical land surveys required for the design of projects. Assists with preparing permanent and temporary easements, right-of-way contracts and exhibits. Works with transportation authorities, irrigation districts, local and federal government agencies and utility companies to coordinate projects and prepare required license agreements and permits.
Conducts field surveys to verify existing utilities and record new utilities. Provides construction, erosion and sediment control plans and inspections as required. Gathers information such as topographic surveys, utility locations and letters and service line locations from property owners.
Responds to customer inquiries and requests from city staff, the public and other governmental agencies regarding current and future projects, record drawings, sanitary sewer line locations, sewer tap and plug permits and all buried piping at city facilities.

Additional Required Knowledge, Experience, And Training
Knowledge of: erosion and sediment control; mathematical calculations and geometry; general business office and telephone etiquette, equipment and procedures; computer usage including related software; record keeping and filing practices; pump and pipe sizing; and Idaho Standards for Public Works Construction (ISPWC).
Ability to: prepare plans and understand specifications and contract documents; communicate clearly with co-workers, consultants, contractors and the public; communicate effectively in the English language at a level necessary for efficient job performance; and perform all essential functions as assigned by an authorized employee, supervisor and/or manager with or without reasonable accommodation.
Individuals must be capable of operating vehicles safely and have an acceptable driving record.

Physical Efforts
While performing the duties of this job the employee is occasionally lifting/carrying up to 35 pounds. Also, the employee is rarely pushing/pulling up to 75 pounds. The noise level is rarely very loud. Work includes sensory ability to talk, hear and touch. Work in this position also includes close vision, distance vision, peripheral vision and depth perception. Employees will sit, stand, walk, stoop, kneel, crouch, crawl, reach, grasp, climb and balance. Position requires hand/finger dexterity.
Working Environment
The work environment will include inside conditions, outdoor weather conditions, extreme temperatures, in wet and humid conditions, areas of dust, odors, mist and gases or other airborne matter. Employees will also drive a vehicle as part of this position. Work includes protected exposure to infectious bacteria, bodily fluids and chemicals.
