Job Summary:
We are seeking a versatile and experienced Manufacturing Quality Engineer to support aerospace production operations with a strong focus on New Product Introduction (NPI), assembly process validation, and manufacturing integration. This role leans into assembly-focused operations rather than machining or capital-intensive equipment setups. The ideal candidate will be adept at launching new assemblies, validating manual and semi-automated production processes, and driving quality compliance within high-mix, low-volume environments typical of integration and test houses.
Key Responsibilities:
* Lead and support New Product Introduction (NPI) efforts, including developing, validating, and implementing assembly-level manufacturing processes
* Investigate and resolve production and quality issues through hands-on Root Cause & Corrective Action (RCCA) techniques, particularly for new or evolving assembly lines
* Create and revise work instructions, control plans, and process documentation to support first-time builds and phased ramp-ups
* Set up and maintain SPC (Statistical Process Control) programs to ensure stability and quality of assembly processes
* Participate in first article inspections (FAI) and process validations for new product launches and configuration changes
* Perform time studies and line balancing to optimize manual or semi-automated assembly processes
* Support or lead Material Review Board (MRB) activities, including assessment, disposition, and documentation of non-conformances
* Conduct internal audits and support external audit readiness in compliance with AS9100, ISO, and customer-specific quality standards
* Use MES and ERP systems (e.g., Solumina, SAP) to manage build workflows, production data, and change control processes
* Drive Lean Manufacturing initiatives such as Kaizen events, 5S implementation, and Value Stream Mapping in support of NPI or process transitions
Core Qualifications:
* Bachelor"s degree in Engineering (Mechanical, Manufacturing, Industrial, or related field)
* Minimum 3 years of experience in manufacturing or quality engineering roles, preferably supporting new product launches or assembly integration
* Solid understanding of RCCA, SPC, and process auditing methodologies
* Demonstrated ability to develop and implement assembly processes, from pilot build through production release
* Proficient in interpreting technical drawings, specifications, and process documentation
* Familiar with AS9100, ISO standards, and working in high-mix, low-volume environments such as aerospace or defense integration houses
* Experience with MES and ERP platforms, especially for build tracking and process change management
* U.S. Citizenship required due to government contract work
Preferred Qualifications:
* Experience supporting New Product Introduction (NPI) or process validation in assembly/test environments
* Familiarity with PFMEA, PPAP, or APQP for new or evolving processes
* Internal Auditor certification (e.g., AS9100 Rev D)
* Background working with optics, electronics integration, or aerospace subsystems
* Strong skills in data analytics (Excel, Power BI, Minitab) to support continuous improvement and process capability analysis
* Exposure to automation, test systems, or manual assembly validation (not machining or heavy capital equipment setup)
If you thrive in a fast-paced production environment and enjoy solving problems at the intersection of manufacturing and quality-apply now and help drive excellence on the shop floor.
Why Join Us*
* Be part of a dynamic, hands-on engineering team supporting high-impact production operations.
