Robert Half is partnering with a construction organization in the recruiting for a Payroll Specialist to join their team due to growth. This position is responsible for managing the requirements of union payroll processing, ensuring compliance with union agreements, federal and state payroll regulations, and company policies. The ideal candidate is proficient with payroll systems and exhibits exceptional analytical and problem-solving skills.
This is a permanent placement opportunity located in the Waukesha, WI area.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Manage end-to-end payroll processing for union employees, ensuring accuracy in wage calculations, deductions, and benefit contributions per collective bargaining agreements.
+ Interpret and enforce collective bargaining agreements (CBAs) as they relate to payroll, contributions, and benefits, ensuring compliance with all union-specific requirements.
+ Calculate and process union benefits, including health, retirement, and pension contributions, while accurately maintaining associated records.
+ Review, audit, and reconcile timesheets and other timekeeping records to ensure proper allocation of hours, overtime, shifts, and other union-specific provisions.
+ Compile and submit required union payroll reports, including certified payroll reports, and assist with audits and union inquiries.
+ Act as the main point of contact for union employees regarding payroll discrepancies, contract provisions, or union-related payroll matters.
+ Work closely with HR, Finance, and the union representatives to stay updated on changes to CBAs or employment laws impacting payroll procedures.
+ Stay current with federal, state, and local payroll laws and regulations, including those specific to unionized environments, and ensure adherence.
Requirements
+ Associate's or bachelor's degree in accounting, finance, business administration, or a related field preferred. Equivalent work experience will be considered.
+ 3-5 years of payroll experience
+ Union payroll experience highly preferred but open to relevant payroll experience
+ Proficiency with payroll software
+ Advanced Excel skills (v-lookups, pivot tables, formulas) and experience with ERP systems
+ FPC (Fundamental Payroll Certification) or CPP (Certified Payroll Professional) a great plus
+ Excellent attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Strong communication skills to liaise effectively across departments and external stakeholders.
+ Ability to manage multiple priorities and meet payroll deadlines in a fast-paced environment.
