Position Overview:
We are seeking an experienced and detail-oriented Commercial Bankruptcy Paralegal to join our dynamic legal team. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in Chapter 11 bankruptcy proceedings and commercial restructuring. This role requires deep familiarity with federal bankruptcy rules, electronic filing procedures, and the ability to support attorneys in managing high-volume, complex commercial cases from inception to resolution.
Key Responsibilities:
+ Assist attorneys with all phases of commercial bankruptcy matters, including Chapter 9 and Chapter 11 filings, creditor representation, adversary proceedings, and restructurings.
+ Prepare and file pleadings, motions, proofs of claim, fee applications, and other legal documents with Bankruptcy Courts.
+ Conduct docket research, maintain case calendars, and manage electronic case filing systems (PACER/ECF).
+ Coordinate with clients, trustees, court personnel, and opposing counsel.
+ Perform legal and factual research related to business entities, secured transactions, and creditor rights.
+ Assist in preparing for hearings, mediations, depositions, and trials, including organizing exhibits and witness materials.
+ Draft correspondence, summaries, and internal memoranda for attorney review.
+ Track and manage deadlines for filings and court appearances.
Requirements
• Minimum of 3 years of experience working as a Commerical Bankruptcy Paralegal.
• Proficiency in using Aderant, a widely-used legal software.
• Ability to use Adobe Acrobat for document management and editing.
• Experience with Automated City Register Information System (ACRIS) is required.
• Familiarity with Case Management Software to handle legal cases effectively.
• Expertise in CompuLaw, a legal calendar software for managing deadlines.
• Ability to handle Billing Functions efficiently and accurately.
• Proficiency in Briefing, including summarizing legal documents and cases.
• Experience in Calendar Management to schedule and keep track of important dates and deadlines.
• Strong Claim Administration skills, including managing and processing claims.
• Excellent Communication skills to interact with clients, attorneys, and court representatives effectively.
• In-depth understanding of Bankruptcy Law and its applications.
• Experience in Bankruptcy Filings, including preparing and filing bankruptcy documents.
• Knowledge of Bankruptcy - Chapter 11, including the processes and laws involved.
• Familiarity with Bankruptcy Code, its sections, and their implications.Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree or Paralegal Certificate from an ABA-approved program.
+ Minimum of 3-5 years of experience in commercial bankruptcy law.
+ Strong knowledge of the U.S. Bankruptcy Code, particularly Chapter 11.
+ Proficiency in PACER, ECF, Microsoft Office Suite, and legal research databases.
+ Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
+ Strong organizational and time management abilities.
+ Attention to detail with a proactive approach to problem-solving.
+ Ability to work independently and as part of a collaborative legal team.
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Experience with large-scale commercial bankruptcies or mass tort-related bankruptcies.
+ Familiarity with insolvency and restructuring matters outside of formal court proceedings.
+ Knowledge of local rules and procedures in multiple jurisdictions is a plus.
