Description

Controller and Finance Director needed for local non-profit. The controller and finance director plays a key role in business planning and developing agency budgets. Ensures financial accountability and oversees the financial operations of the agency in accordance with Generally Accepted Accounting Principles. Directs financial activities such as cash and bank account management, procurement, and investments for the organization.

Ensure timely, accurate reporting of financial information to the President and Chief Executive Officer and the Board of Directors.

Perform periodic analyses of income, expenses and assets and produce financial statements and reports.

Maintain and oversee the organization’s system of accounts; general accounting, property accounting, internal auditing, cost accounting and budgetary controls.

Responsible for organization’s compliance with requirements for internal and external reporting as required & requested. These include but are not limited to reporting for Form 990, W-2’s, 1099’s, eSRS and SBA, retirement plan and annual Form 5500 reporting.

Document and maintain complete and accurate supporting information for all financial transactions, reconcile company credit card expenses with statements, bank and investment accounts.

Develop and maintain financial accounting systems for cash management, accounts payable, accounts receivable, credit control and petty cash.

Coordinate preparation of the annual budget and assist agency leadership in developing budgets for new programs and contracts.

Coordinate preparation for and provide support for independent audits under the direction of the President and Chief Executive Officer.

Develop internal control policies, guidelines, and procedures for activities such as budget administration, cash and credit management and accounting.

Guide and advise HR in management of the agency payroll process.

Monitor financial activities and details, such as cash flow and reserve levels, to ensure that the agency maintains financial health and all legal and regulatory requirements are met.

Perform other duties and special tasks as assigned.

Required Knowledge, Skills and Abilities:

Bachelors of Accounting

Understanding of and the ability to adhere to Generally Accepted Accounting Principles (GAAP)

Experience with contract and grant accounting required

Excellent organizational skills, keen attention to detail and ability to manage time effectively

Substantial expertise required in Microsoft Office Suite and with software applications, especially finance-related software (currently Alliance and Sage Intacct), with the ability to learn & adapt to new applications.

Strong mathematical and analytical skills. Able to deliver accurate and concise verbal and written reports.
