• Corporate Controller - Hybrid

    Description

    Our client, a rapidly growing and innovative organization in the education/publishing sector, is seeking a dynamic and experienced Controller to lead and enhance their accounting operations. This is a high-impact, hands-on leadership role that combines day-to-day accounting management with strategic oversight and continuous process improvement.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Lead all internal accounting operations including GL, AP/AR, payroll, reconciliations, cash management, fixed assets, and sales tax

    + Ensure accurate and timely month-end and quarter-end close, financial reporting, and compliance with US GAAP

    + Develop and maintain internal controls and risk mitigation strategies

    + Produce financial and management reports, including tax returns and technical memos

    + Coach and mentor a diverse accounting team, fostering growth and accountability

    + Collaborate cross-functionally to support financial planning and business initiatives

    + Partner with external auditors, tax professionals, and banks

    + Maintain systems integrity and oversee workflow improvements

    Requirements

    What You Bring:

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting or Finance (required)

    + CPA strongly preferred; public accounting experience highly valued

    + Minimum 10 years of progressive accounting/finance experience

    + 5+ years in a leadership role managing diverse accounting teams (may consider 4 years with strong qualifications)

    + Industry background in education, publishing, or similar is a plus

    + Proven ability to implement improvements and think strategically

    + Advanced knowledge of finance controls and compliance practices

    + Familiarity with Great Plains and ADP is a bonus
