Description We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Assistant Controller to join our team in Midland, Texas. This role plays a critical part in overseeing financial reporting, internal controls, and process improvements. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in operational financial management and be comfortable collaborating with leadership to ensure accurate and timely financial reporting.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the month-end close process to produce accurate financial statements in compliance with established standards.
• Manage and maintain financial books, including general ledger entries and account reconciliations.
• Ensure adherence to internal controls and compliance with accounting regulations and best practices.
• Support the preparation of financial documents for external audits and assist with audit-related tasks.
• Collaborate with external partners to complete federal, state, and international tax filings accurately and on time.
• Develop and monitor key performance indicators (KPIs) and identify opportunities for improvement.
• Research complex accounting issues and provide recommendations for proper application of accounting principles.
• Lead or support the implementation and stabilization of operational software to enhance financial reporting processes.
• Perform cash reconciliations and ensure the accuracy of financial data.
• Contribute to special projects and initiatives as assigned by leadership. Requirements • Bachelor’s or Master’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field.
• At least 5 years of progressive experience in accounting or financial management.
• Strong knowledge of GAAP and other financial principles.
• Proficiency in accounting software; experience with SAP Business One is a plus.
• Advanced skills in Microsoft Excel and other Office applications.
• Proven ability to identify and implement process improvements in financial operations.
• Exceptional organizational skills and attention to detail.
• Self-motivated with the ability to work independently and as part of a team.
