Description
We are looking for an experienced Accounts Payable Manager to oversee and manage the accounts payable operations for our organization. This long-term contract position is based in Rochester, New York, and offers the opportunity to lead a fast-paced, dynamic team while ensuring accuracy and efficiency in all AP processes. The role requires a proactive and detail-oriented individual capable of thriving in a challenging, high-energy environment.
Responsibilities:
• Supervise the work of the accounts payable clerk and ensure the accuracy of all AP-related tasks.
• Oversee the end-to-end accounts payable process, from invoice receipt to payment, across multiple entities.
• Implement and refine AP processes to align with company standards, improve efficiency, and establish strong internal controls.
• Collaborate with the IT department, external consultants, and banking partners to enhance and streamline payment systems.
• Partner with the purchasing department to improve purchase order workflows and align them with financial objectives.
• Develop and enhance procedures for tracking large project payments, including vendor progress payments and data accessibility for project managers.
• Manage cash flow requirements related to accounts payable and provide detailed analytics for corporate reporting.
• Perform month-end closing activities, including preparing journal entries and reconciling general ledger accounts.
• Act as the primary point of contact for all accounts payable inquiries and initiatives within the organization.
Requirements
• Extensive experience in accounts payable, including senior or management-level roles.
• Proficiency with accounting software systems, and advanced Excel skills.
• Strong understanding of general ledger systems and the ability to manage journal entries and reconciliations.
• Familiarity with AP-related processes such as accrual accounting, ACH payments, and invoice coding.
• Proven ability to implement and improve internal controls and AP workflows.
• Experience working in fast-paced, high-pressure environments similar to private equity settings.
• Excellent communication and collaboration skills to work effectively with cross-functional teams.
• Ability to multitask and adapt to changing priorities while maintaining attention to detail.
