Job Summary
Serves as primary coordinator of all marketing efforts in the Department of Housing and Residence Life. Manages the overall internal and external marketing and communication functions for the department including, but not limited to, strategic planning, recruitment, special events, Website development and maintenance of department website and Eagle Hub, social media, publications, promotions, and campus and community relations. Supports special projects as assigned by the Assistant Director of Assignments, Technology and Business Operations, the Associate Director of Management and Business Operations and/or the Executive Director of Housing and Residence Life.
Primary Duties and Responsibilities
+ Coordinates, develops, manages and assesses the overall internal and external marketing, including operational budgets and communication functions for the department.
+ Develops, coordinates and implements influential advertising techniques and marketing strategies based on current trends and industry indicators to positively affect the occupancy of the facilities, as well as usage of services and participation in residence education programs.
+ Establishes and maintains mutually beneficial relationships with campus and community partners, as well as other stakeholders. Works to improve communication and knowledge of services between Housing and Residence Life and the other departments within the Division of Student Affairs.
+ Maintains, updates and works to improve department Website to ensure it is visually appealing, easy to navigate and up-to-date with technical/marketing trends.
+ Initiates and oversees advertising contracts as well as the design, production, printing and publications of all advertisements, departmental displays, campus publications, email campaigns, newsletters, handbooks, posters, flyers, post cards, direct mail pieces, promotional items, etc. and ensures that the department is in compliance with the University graphic standards. Orchestrates all special events for the department. Supports and participates in the marketing of the department at annual recruitment events and orientations.
+ Develops and manages the department’s social and digital media presence.
+ Performs other duties as assigned.
Minimum Qualifications
Bachelor's degree from an accredited college or university in marketing, public relations, communications or related field. Two years of related experience in social media marketing, digital marketing and/or small scale marketing campaign creation.
Knowledge, Skills & Abilities
+ Ability to work some nights, weekends as needed and be flexible when necessary.
+ Adept in Microsoft Office and ability to learn and become proficient in RMS and other housing software and databases.
+ Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, draw valid conclusions, and where necessary use mathematics to solve problems.
+ Skill in completing assignments accurately and with attention to detail.
+ Ability to accurately analyze and prepare documents, reports, and correspondence.
+ Ability to communicate (verbal and written) and interact effectively with a diverse group of people for a variety of reasons, to include common inquiries, complaints, and provide quality feedback.
+ Knowledge of social media platforms and their usage to reach target demographics.
+ Exhibit individual initiative and the ability to work independently and also work collaboratively as a member of a team and as a leader of a team.
+ Familiarity with editing software such as Adobe or Canva.
+ Efficient time management skills due to dealing with multiple projects and deadlines.
Preferred Qualifications
Three years of communications, marketing, digital media or related experience and/or training; portfolio of work to include writing samples and printed materials will be required to during interview process. Experience with social media graphic design, printed material development, and webpage design.
