Job Description
Iowa Department of Transportation’s Mission isMaking Lives Better Through Transportation. Location : Civil Rights Bureau – Ames, Iowa
Shift Requirements : 40-hour weeks, some travel and overtime. Flexible schedule available. Telecommute available
As a Civil Rights Compliance Officer ( Affirmative Action Compliance Officer 2) , your duties will include, but are not limited to:
- Conduct in-depth desk audits and/or on-site audits as appropriate for applicants seeking Disadvantaged Business Enterprise (DBE) status and conducting in-depth audits on initial and renewal DBE certifications.
-Assist with coordinating Supportive Services for DBE contractors/consultants.
-Organizing data and logistics for the monthly DBE goal setting meetings
-Preparing semi-annual DBE reports to Federal Highway Administration (FHWA)
-Conduct Title VI and Contractor Compliance reviews
-Preparing monthly Iowa DOT Contractor Bid Award Summary report

Minimum Qualification Requirements
Experience equal to seven years of full-time work with members of legally protected classes in areas of civil rights, human relations, social/economic problem solving or equal employment opportunities/affirmative action directed at the prevention and/or elimination of discrimination;
OR
an equivalent combination of experience and education, substituting thirty semester hours of accredited college or university course work with a major emphasis in social or behavioral sciences for each year of the required experience to a maximum of five years;
OR
employees with current continuous experience in the state executive branch that includes experience equal to twelve months of full-time work as an Affirmative Action/Compliance Officer 1 or Civil Rights Specialist will be qualified.
