Job Title: Heavy Equipment Operator
Job Description
Aerotek's client is seeking a heavy equipment operator to join their team. The ideal candidate must be an experienced heavy equipment operator that will operator in a safe and effective manner to minimize the risk of injury or property damage. Responsibilities
+ Operate all heavy equipment in a safe and efficient way according to all relevant legislation, policies, and procedures.
+ Perform daily safety and maintenance checks.
+ Clean heavy equipment as scheduled and/or required.
+ Ensure heavy equipment is safely and securely stored.
+ Advise Operations of any requirements for maintenance or repairs.
+ Participate in routine maintenance.
+ Practice workplace safety.
+ Perform daily vehicle inspection and report vehicle defects, accidents, traffic violations, or damage to the vehicles before and after each route.
+ Ensure safe loading, transfer, and unloading of materials to and from work sites.

Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Knowledge of truck and equipment safety.
+ Knowledge of operation of front end loaders, dozers, graders, and other heavy equipment.
+ Knowledge of road construction and maintenance techniques.
+ Ability to perform physical labor activities while standing, walking, or kneeling for long periods, including work within confined spaces.
+ Ability to lift or exert force exceeding 50 lbs.
+ Must understand instructions in the English language.
+ Hazmat and Tanker endorsed.
+ Good driving record and experience driving a variety of vehicles.
+ Ability to pass a physical and drug test.
+ Support a culture of “Safety First”.
+ TWIC.
+ MA and RI license for hydraulics/hoisting.

Work Environment
This role requires working outside in various environmental conditions. The position entails physical labor, which may involve standing, walking, or kneeling for long periods, including working within confined spaces. The operator must be capable of lifting or exerting force exceeding 50 lbs and follow a safety-first culture.
Job Type & Location
This is a Contract to Hire position based out of Newington, Connecticut.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $27.00 - $35.00/hr.
