    The Role

     

    The individual will work to support the Ford Class Aircraft Carriers. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

     

    Researches, develops, designs, and tests electrical components, equipment, systems, and networks. Designs electrical equipment, facilities, components, products, and systems for commercial, industrial, and domestic purposes.

     

    Must Have

     

    Bachelor's Degree and 5 years of relevant exempt experience;

    Master’s Degree and 3 years of relevant professional experience;

    Ph.D. and 0 years of experience.

     

    Newport News Shipbuilding requires a Bachelor's Degree in engineering from an ABET accredited program.

     

    Nice to Have

     

    Experience with industrial motors, motor controllers, and drives is desired, including experience with PLCs, VSDs, and network communications. Power distribution and control experience is desired. Experience with developing and reviewing military standard environmental qualification experience is preferred (Shock, Vibe, EMI)

    In addition, the candidate should have the following;

    • MS computer skills.

    • Strong verbal and written communication skills, including the ability to write technical documents clearly, accurately, and with technical rigor.

    • The ability to interface with a variety of organizations, including vendors, government representatives, and shipyard engineering and construction activities to develop, install, test, and troubleshoot electrical equipment.

    • The ability to work in a team to support comprehensive engineering design processes from inception through completion.
