Under the supervision of the Maintenance Manager the **Carpenter** will perform maintenance on any equipment or facilities in which their skills support in a compliant quality manner. Painters will perform maintenance activities crossing between job groups. Carpenters ate part of the General I technician work group and will primarily share work assignments within their job grouping with no inherent or "system imposed" limits Based on business needs General Technicians will perform maintenance activities including crossing between job groupings where skills are common Work assignments, buildings, and equipment are not exclusive to any craft, job grouping, or employee. Position may include some responsibility for maintaining significant business systems (e g. Maximo data, planning, procurement, and scheduling) including the authority to assign, coordinate, and maintain work for others.
EQUIPMENT:
General power-driven wood working machinery, such as joiner, planner, circular saw, band saw, jig saw, drill press, radial saw, table saw, shaper and other miscellaneous equipment and small hand tools common to carpentry work.
DUTIES:
+ Installsexterior and interior trim,mouldings,baseboards,doors,door framesandpaneling;lays floor, builds concreteforms, wooden scaffoldsandperformsmiscellaneousfunctions requiring thecutting, shapingandfasteningtogetherofwoodorothermaterials.
+ Erectswoodenandmetalstudbuildingframes,partitions,roofs.
+ Worksatbenchoperatingcircularandradialsaws,planes,shapers, powderactivatedtoolsandothermechanicalwoodworkingtools.
+ Installsalltypesof laminatetopsonworkbenchesandtables.
+ Laysand repairs resilient tiletypefloors.
+ Minor repairn to roofs
+ Reglazes windows, doors, skylights and partitions.
+ Performsmiscellaneousutilitywoodcabinetworkandmillwork.
+ Makes,assemblesandrepairswoodequipmentfor productionand maintenanceuse such as screens, boxes,steps,guides,paddles, etc.
+ Relocates,assemblesand/ordisassemblesprefabricatedmetal partitions,knocked-downmetal andwoodfurniture, suchas Hayworth/Steelcase/Knoli.
+ Makes repairs to concrete workasrequired,includingwalls, ceilings, floors,steps,walkwaysandroadways.
+ Makesuplocksets,cutskeysandinstallsalltypesofdoorhardware (commercial-type-hardware).
+ Maintainsrecords/inventory.
+ Attendand activelyparticipatesinHAZOPS,waste walkthroughs, kaizen events, or any other operations, lean six-sigma, quality, safety or environmentaltraining/initiativesasrequired.
+ Preparesandassiststechnicians,supervisorsandplanners inpreparing labor andmaterial estimates.
+ Assistssupervisionwith the assigning,schedulingand prioritizationof workorderrequestsusingmaintenancemanagementsystems
+ Makesrecommendationsandprepares orders for spareparts,additional stock room items, tools, etc.
+ ConsultswithSupervisionandothermechanicsonproblem resolution/troubleshooting
+ KeepsSupervisioninformedofproblem issues
EDUCATION:
NECESSARY** **:
+ HighSchoolDiploma.
+ Graduationfromarecognizedcarpentertradeschool orcompletion of a formal carpenter apprentice program.
EXPERIENCE** **:
**NECESSARY** :
+ 1 - 3yearsof recentfull-timeexperienceasajourneymancarpenterin lieu of completion of a formal apprentice program, or
+ Thecompletion of4yearsofon-the-jobtrainingaspartofaformal carpenter apprentice program.
DESIRABLE:
+ Extensiveexperienceinindustrialmaintenance andrepair
+ Someexperience incabinetwork.
