Job Description Summary
Maintain urgent and routine repairs and maintenance of plumbing, medical gas, medical vacuum,, sewer lines, water lines, surgical, dietary, and laundry equipment for the facility and outlying clinics owned and/or operated by Southeast Health to ensure that our patients receive quality and safe care by following policy and procedure of the Plant Operations Department, Southeast Health and state and local codes. Perform preventative maintenance (PM) that is required for patient care areas and equipment assigned to the Industrial Maintenance Shop. Complete or assign work requestor orders generated by computer and/or manually in a timely manner to assure customer satisfaction.
Job Description
QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School graduate or equivalent;
+ At least ten years’ experience in maintenance preferred;
+ General computer and electrical knowledge;
+ Knowledge of state and local building and safety codes;
+ Ability to read and understand wiring and diagram blueprints;
+ Experience in soldering or welding;
+ Valid drivers’ license.
LANGUAGE/ COMMUNICATION SKILLS:
+ Ability to communicate effectively in English, both verbally and in writing;
+ Ability to communicate effectively in an emergency situation;
+ Must be able to promote positive behavior in others;
+ Ability to utilize the internet, intranet and e-mail;
+ Ability to utilize radio and paging system.
SKILLS:
+ Competent in the removal of old equipment and the installation of new equipment;
+ Proficient in four related fields;
+ Schedules and supervises system shut-downs/outages;
+ Working knowledge of NFPA 99C;
+ Medical Gas preferred;
+ Coordinate with Parts and Supply Coordinator to assure that we maintain an adequate inventory of parts for routine maintenance and emergency repairs of hospital equipment that is assigned to the Industrial Maintenance Shop;
+ Proficient in welding and fabrication;
+ Maintenance and repair of Surgical, Laundry and Dietary equipment following owner’s manual, state and local safety codes and policy and procedure of Southeast Health;
+ Maintain, repair, adjust and calibrate the existing plumbing, medical gas, steam lines, medical vacuum and sewer lines in the facility and outlying clinics in a timely manner to ensure minimal inconvenience to patients, visitors and hospital personnel.
+ Supervise the installation of plumbing, sewer lines, medical gas, medical vacuum and steam lines during renovation by In-house or by a contractor following the national, state and local safety codes;
+ Maintain accurate preventive maintenance records on each piece of equipment for which the Industrial Maintenance Shop is responsible, using the work order system documenting the prompted information according to the policy and procedures of Southeast Health;
+ Complete all assigned work request generated manually and/or by computer in a timely manner ensuring patient, visitor and hospital personnel satisfaction for the facility and outlying clinics;
+ Document prompted information in the work order system.
