Principal Application Engineer, GenAI Development

As a member of the IT Enterprise Business Systems group at Pega, you will be at the forefront of innovation, working on cutting-edge GenAI applications. You will be instrumental in developing intelligent, conversational interfaces and knowledge-driven solutions that power both internal and external portals. You'll collaborate with a team of talented engineers and product owners worldwide, building highly scalable GenAI applications that impact critical business functions. This includes enhancing functionality, developing intelligent services, and providing AI-powered assistance to People, Corporate Governance, Contract, Legal, Marketing, Sales, DemoX, Customer Service teams, and more. Beyond new projects, you'll also contribute to the iterative enhancement of existing intelligent applications.

In this role, you'll design, develop, and implement sophisticated applications that leverage large language models (LLMs), natural language processing (NLP), and other GenAI technologies. What You'll Do at Pega:

+ Leverage state-of-the-art GenAI technologies to translate requirements into robust feature designs, implementations, tests, deployments, and ongoing support.

+ Collaborate within an Agile/Scrum team, working alongside passionate and skilled engineers.

+ Work with a technology stack that includes LLMs (e.g., GPT-4, Llama 2), NLP libraries, Python, and potentially Java, with a strong focus on GenAI Application Development and GenAI Application Design.

Who You Are:

+ Strong understanding of software engineering principles, with a focus on AI and machine learning concepts.

+ Proficient in developing high-quality code that meets engineering excellence standards.

+ Experience in building scalable and performant GenAI applications.

+ Ability to take ownership of epics and sprints within an Agile/Scrum environment.

+ Passionate about continuous learning and innovation in the field of artificial intelligence.

+ Proven ability to analyze and solve complex problems logically.

+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills, with the ability to remain composed under pressure.

What You've Accomplished:

+ 8 to 12 years of overall software development experience for automating business processes

+ 2 years dedicated to developing GenAI applications

+ Solid understanding of LLMs, NLP, and related GenAI technologies

+ Experience with Langchain, or similar LLM orchestration tools

+ Experience with vector databases

+ Experience with prompt engineering

+ Experience with fine tuning LLMs

+ Bachelor’s degree in computer science, Artificial Intelligence, or a related field

+ Experience leading small development teams (2-3 developers) is a plus
