    SPECIAL NOTES:

    Two (2) years of professional experience involving workers’ compensation claims ispreferred. An associates degree from an accredited college or university may substitute the preferred experience.

    Additional preferences:

    + Six (6) months’ experience in a position requiring the processing of medical payments or knowledge of medical terms.

    + Six (6) months’ experience in working with workers’ compensation claims in any capacity.

    + Six (6) months’ experience in customer service and providing information to callers.

    + A bachelor’s degree from an accredited college or university.

     

    This position requires a security background check, including fingerprint as a condition of employment.

     

    This position will be filled at $39,140.04

     

    This position is in our office in Tallahassee, FL . The work hours are from 8:00 a.m. – 5:00 p.m.

     

    Employees of the Department of Financial Services are paid on a monthly pay cycle.

     

    Responses to qualifying questions must be clearly supported by the state application and any omission, falsification, or misrepresentation in the answering of the qualifying questions will be cause for immediate elimination from the selection process.

    Minimum Qualifications for this position include the following REQUIRED ENTRY LEVEL KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS AND ABILITIES:

    + Knowledge of the principles and techniques of effective verbal and written communication.

    + Ability to examine and evaluate data relating to a workers’ compensation program.

    + Ability to understand and apply applicable rules, regulations, policies and procedures relating to a workers’ compensation program.

    + Ability to conduct fact finding investigations.

    + Handle telephone calls in a fast, courteous and effective manner.

    + Ability to deal with the public in a tactful and courteous manner.

    + Ability to work independently, utilizing problem solving techniques.

    + Ability to plan, organize and coordinate work assignments.

    + Ability to communicate effectively both verbally and in writing.

    + Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with others.

    + Ability to prepare and maintain reports.

    + Ability to perform basic mathematic calculations.

    BRIEF DESCRIPTION OF DUTIES:

    This position assists workers’ compensation specialist with reviewing and evaluating medical-only workers’ compensation claims, processing and paying medical and legal bills associated with workers’ compensation claims and reviewing workers’ compensation First Report of Injury forms.
