A Day in the Life
The Manager of Scientific Communication and Evidence Planning will lead a team responsible for bridging scientific research and commercial teams, ensuring the alignment and dissemination of key scientific messages and evidence. This role involves strategic planning, publication management, and maintaining scientific and medical expertise to support business activities and market needs. The manager provides leadership input into organizational structure, performance standards, compliance, project planning, budgeting, resource management, and technical leadership skills to the Medical Affairs function while also coaching and developing those within the Scientific Communications team. The manager builds and develops a best-in-class functional team. The manager is responsible for ensuring the team possesses the appropriate mix and level of skills required to develop and deliver high quality evidence in a dynamic growth environment. You will collaborate with cross-functional teams, including marketing, medical science, medical education, clinical research, regulatory, R&D, R&T, HEPR, and others to ensure successful projects and deliver high-quality evidence.
Our Cardiac Rhythm Management Integrated Operating Unit offers devices and therapies that treat patients with abnormal heart rhythms and heart failure. It is comprised of four key businesses: Cardiac Pacing Therapies, Defibrillation Solutions, Patient Management, and Procedure Innovations. The Manager of Scientific Communication and Evidence Planning will lead a team responsible for bridging scientific research and commercial teams, ensuring the alignment and dissemination of key scientific messages and evidence. A Day in the Life
Responsibilities may include the following and other duties may be assigned.
+ Lead a team of employees and contingents, setting goals, conducting performance reviews, and providing mentorship.
+ Coach and guide the delivery of evidence planning and scientific communication deliverables, ensuring adherence to best practices.
+ Collaborate across the organization to implement and maintain robust evidence development processes, including prioritization and data disclosure.
+ Build strong relationships with internal teams to enhance collaboration across the evidence development process (EDP).
+ Guide team members in developing a framework for identifying and prioritizing evidence gaps by region and stakeholder/HCP.
+ Stay updated on trends in publication practices and congress collaboration opportunities, recommending innovative solutions.
+ Ensure teams monitor insights and engage in HCP and stakeholder consultations, identifying new opportunities for effective consultation.
+ Partner with leadership to define an approach to integrated scientific communication strategy and planning.
+ Implement the CRM external publication review process effectively.
+ Provide technical oversight, coaching, and support to develop team members.
+ Monitor team productivity, offering constructive feedback, coaching, and training regularly.
+ Manage budgeting, forecasting, and resource allocation.
+ Provide regular status reports and performance metrics to management and key stakeholders.
Must Have: Minimum Requirements
+ Bachelor’s degree with a minimum of 5 years of clinical research/medical affairs/scientific dissemination planning experience
OR
+ Advanced degree with a minimum of 3 years of clinical research/medical affairs/scientific dissemination planning experience
Nice to Have
+ PhD, MD, or PharmD degree
+ Proficient knowledge of physiology and/or applicable disease states, medical terminology, CRM therapies and technologies
+ Experience in Market Development or Therapy Awareness initiatives
+ Experience working with physicians/key opinion leaders in an industry or clinical setting
+ Experience authoring peer-reviewed manuscript and abstract presentations at major scientific conferences
+ Working knowledge of relevant medical writing guidelines (e.g. AMA) and current industry publication standards (ICMJE, GPP, etc.)
+ Ability to manage multiple projects simultaneously
+ Experience with literature reviews (meta-analysis experience a plus)
+ Working knowledge of biostats and clinical trial design
+ Strong team player and the ability to adapt to competing priorities

Salary ranges for U.S (excl. PR) locations (USD):$130,400.00 - $195,600.00
This position is eligible for a short-term incentive called the Medtronic Incentive Plan (MIP).
The base salary range is applicable across the United States, excluding Puerto Rico and specific locations in California. The offered rate complies with federal and local regulations and may vary based on factors such as experience, certification/education, market conditions, and location. Compensation and benefits information pertains solely to candidates hired within the United States (local market compensation and benefits will apply for others).
The following benefits and additional compensation are available to those regular employees who work 20+ hours per week: Health, Dental and vision insurance, Health Savings Account, Healthcare Flexible Spending Account, Life insurance, Long-term disability leave, Dependent daycare spending account, Tuition assistance/reimbursement, and Simple Steps (global well-being program).
