Job Description
BAE Systems is hiring a Director of Business Development to support our Combat Mission Systems (CMS) business. The role will serve as the overall Business Development lead for Weapon Systems international pursuits and capture efforts.
Responsibilities:
+ Develop knowledge of the products that the business offers to international customers to include the Mk45 naval gun, associated ammunition, other naval guns, and launching system products.
+ Grow the international opportunity pipeline, to include existing as well as new customers, through diligent and timely identification and qualification of new business opportunities by leveraging technologies, customer intimacies, and inter-company collaboration.
+ Support the development and execution of strategic and tactical plans for the pursuit and successful capture of key international opportunities.
+ Develop strong relationships and work with the product area leadership; advise them on leads and opportunities that might be pursued along with the resources and possible changes required to win new business.
+ Develop recommendations on the prioritization of international pursuits and capture efforts.
+ Obtain marketing intelligence and competitive data pertaining to potential targeted pursuits, and develop marketing strategies.
+ Maintain close customer relationships with primarily foreign customers, understanding their needs and shaping customer requirements.
+ Assessing competitor capabilities aligned to specific customers in assigned market space.
+ Support capture efforts to include providing market, competitor, and customer intelligence; supporting color teams; and recommending resources to address gaps.
+ Provide informed recommendations on pursuit and bid decisions.
+ Support the creation and execution of multi-year business development strategies.
+ Inform Bid and Proposal, Internal Research and Development planning, as well as overhead budgets to include Sales and Marketing.
+ Provide inputs to the Weapon Systems Director to help develop and adjust the business strategies.
+ Provide reports through recurring mechanisms on the status of leads, opportunities, and capture efforts.
Required Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Bachelor's Degree and 12 years work experience or equivalent experience
+ Experience in Business Development, Acquisition, or equivalent in Defense or Government
+ Experience in foreign military sales as well as direct commercial sales to foreign customers
+ Understanding of US Government export rules and regulations as stipulated by the Department of Commerce's Export Administration Regulations (EAR) and the Department of State's International Traffic in Arms Regulations (ITAR)
+ Understanding of US Government Security Assistance policies and procedures
+ Well-versed in the rules and regulations of Foreign Military Sales
+ Proven ability to operate effectively independently and in ad hoc teams and groups
+ Excellent communication (both oral and written) and listening skills
+ Strong ability with Microsoft Office application
Preferred Education, Experience, & Skills
+ Ability to obtain a Secret Security Clearance
+ Master s Degree in technical field, International Affairs, or MBA
+ Experience in International Business Development
+ Knowledge of naval weapons and surface warfare to include technical knowledge, concept of operations, doctrine, and industry teams supporting modernization of capabilities
+ Conversant in one or more foreign languages
Pay Information
Full-Time Salary Range: $150370 - $255630
Please note: This range is based on our market pay structures. However, individual salaries are determined by a variety of factors including, but not limited to: business considerations, local market conditions, and internal equity, as well as candidate qualifications, such as skills, education, and experience.
