    Social Worker MSW/MSW SR - 1.0 FTE, Adult Ambulatory Psychiatry Anxiety Clinic

    Job Summary

    This appointment is a full-time clinical position in the Department of Psychiatry. Adult Ambulatory, Anxiety Clinic. The position involves evaluating and treating adults with psychiatric disorders (focused on anxiety disorders), participation on a multi-disciplinary outpatient team, and participation in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines. The ideal candidate will have a primary clinical interest in trauma-related disorders. Previous experience using outcome measures is desired. Clinical populations include Post Traumatic Stress Disorder (PTSD), Obsessive Compulsive Disorder (OCD), General Anxiety Disorder (GAD), Panic Disorder, Social Phobia, and Specific Phobia. Applicants will have advanced evidence-based psychotherapy training comprising supervised clinical experience using CBT for anxiety (CBT, prolonged exposure therapy, cognitive processing therapy, exposure and response prevention) for at least 6 months. Although this position is primarily clinical, candidate should have the knowledge base and experience to participate in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines.

    Responsibilities*

    You will be responsible for:

    + Providing direct billable clinical work including psychiatric evaluations and psychotherapy to adults with anxiety disorders

    + Providing evidence-based psychotherapy treatment including individual and group modalities

    + Participation in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines

    Required Qualifications*

    + A Master's degree in Social Work from a school accredited by the Council of Social Work Education.

    + A current license to practice social work in the State of Michigan.

    Desired Qualifications*

    + Provider will have advanced evidence-based psychotherapy training comprising supervised clinical experience using CBT for anxiety for at least 6 months (ideally more)

    + The ideal candidate will have a primary clinical interest in trauma-related disorders

    + Applicants with full licensure and psychotherapy training will be considered the most qualified

    + Highly motivated to work in a very collaborative, interdisciplinary, academic setting

    + Although this position is primarily clinical, candidate should have the knowledge base and experience to participate in the education and training of students and staff from social work and other disciplines

    + Efficient, accurate psychiatric assessment skills and effective case presentation skills

    + Previous experience using outcome measures

    + Independent, sound decision-making is necessary for success in this position

    + Proficiency in keeping accurate and timely clinical records by computer

     

    Work Schedule

     

    This is full time, 40 hour/week position. This position will require some evening hours, typically 1-2 days per week.

    Underfill Statement

     

    This position may be underfilled at a lower classification depending on the qualifications of the selected candidate. Advancement through the career ladder at the Expert or Clinical Scholar Level is required for placement in the MSW Senior Classification

     

    Union Affiliation

     

    This position is covered under the collective bargaining agreement between the U-M and the United Michigan Medicine Allied Professionals (UMMAP), which contains and settles all matters with respect to wages, benefits, hours, and other terms and conditions of employment.

     

    Background Screening

     

    Michigan Medicine conducts background screening and pre-employment drug testing on job candidates upon acceptance of a contingent job offer and may use a third-party administrator to conduct background screenings. Background screenings are performed in compliance with the Fair Credit Report Act. Pre-employment drug testing applies to all selected candidates, including new or additional faculty and staff appointments, as well as transfers from other U-M campuses.

     

    In addition to the screenings indicated above under Michigan law, a criminal history check including fingerprinting is required as a condition of transfer or employment for this position.
