+ **Shift** = All Shifts Available!

+ **Pay** = $27-35/hour (dependent on results of ABS Test)

+ **Duration** = 6 months+ (Temp to hire)

As a Shipfitter/Welder, you will be responsible for utilizing various tools and equipment in the fabrication, assembling and erection of metal components at the various stages on a marine vessel.

Your expertise in welding using electric, gas, arc and other welding equipment will be put to the test as you perform with precision and efficiency on large fleet maritime vessels. Previous shipyard/welding experience is required as all candidates will need to successfully complete required shipfitting/weld tests to meet our stringent quality standards.

Additional Shipfitter/Welder responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

+ Flux core tacking, GMAW, and GTAW tacking carbon steel, stainless steel, and aluminum

+ Lays out, positions, and secures parts and assemblies according to specifications, using straightedge, plum bob, auto level, transit, go-no-go gauge, combination square, calipers, and ruler.

+ Cuts work piece, using powered saws, gas torch, oxi-fuel, and plasma torch.

+ Installs or repairs decks, bulkheads, and tank linings.

+ Observes tests on welded surfaces, such as hydrostatic, x-ray, and dimension tolerance to evaluate weld quality and conformance to specifications.

+ Prepare and inspects grooves, angles, or gap allowances, using micrometer, caliper, and precision measuring instruments.

+ Removes rough spots from work piece, using portable grinder, hand file, or scraper. Welds components in flat, vertical, or overhead positions.

+ Heats, forms, and dresses metal parts, using hand tools, torch, or arc welding equipment. Ignites torch and adjusts valves, amperage, or voltage to obtain desired flame or arc.

What Do We Want to Know About You? We're looking for candidates who possess:

+ High school degree or equivalent.

+ 5+ years of experience in a custom build shop preferred.

+ Read and interpret blueprints utilizing both metric and standard measurements

+ Physically able to lift 50 pounds – inclusive of walking/climbing stairs

+ Comfortable working in smaller/enclosed spaces within the ship

**Pay Details:** $27.00 to $35.00 per hour
