CAMPUS SPECIFIC INFORMATION
Reporting to the Chief Information Officer, the IT Sr Associate L2 will be responsible for the design and development of technology solutions to enhance teaching and learning, and improve business processes. The incumbent will lead the full lifecycle of software development and integration projects, identifying opportunities for innovation and ensuring the seamless operation and evolution of the school's application portfolio and underlying technology infrastructure. The software applications developed at SPH aim to improve business process efficiencies by digitizing and automating workflows, while leveraging new technologies such as generative AI to aid these efforts. This position demands extensive experience in all phases of a software development lifecycle, a deep understanding of diverse technology stacks, and the ability to translate institutional needs into robust and scalable technical solutions with minimal direct supervision.
The IT Sr. Associate L2 will, in addition to the duties listed in the CUNY Title Overview:
+ Independently lead and facilitate comprehensive requirements gathering sessions with faculty, staff, and students, employing advanced techniques such as in-depth interviews, strategic focus groups, collaborative storyboarding workshops, and detailed process re-engineering to elicit critical needs and translate them into actionable technical specifications.
+ Take ownership of the end-to-end development and deployment of sophisticated software applications utilizing Microsoft SharePoint, ASP.Net, SQL Server, and other relevant technologies, demonstrating expertise in architectural design, coding best practices, and performance optimization with minimal guidance.
+ Establish and execute comprehensive testing strategies and create thorough documentation for newly developed software applications, including the development of user-friendly training programs and resources that empower end-users to effectively utilize school-specific applications.
+ Plan and execute the integration of new applications and emerging technologies such as data analytics, dashboards, and generative AI with existing CUNY and SPH hosted systems, ensuring data integrity, system compatibility, and long-term scalability.
+ Proactively manage and independently resolve complex technical issues related to the ongoing support, troubleshooting, and maintenance of critical software applications residing on the campus Intranet, often developing innovative solutions to ensure system stability and user satisfaction.
+ Independently manage and oversee deployment / go-live processes, including the development of detailed implementation plans, risk mitigation strategies, and the delivery of comprehensive end-user training programs with minimal direct supervision.
+ Proactively identify opportunities for process improvement and technological advancement, recommending and implementing innovative solutions that align with the school's strategic goals and enhance operational efficiency.
+ Mentor and provide technical guidance to junior team members, fostering a collaborative and knowledge-sharing environment.
+ Serve as a key technical liaison with other departments and external vendors, independently representing the IT department and contributing to strategic technology planning initiatives.
+ Evaluate and recommend new technologies and development methodologies to enhance the school's application development capabilities and ensure the use of industry best practices.
+ Other duties as assigned in alignment with the strategic goals of the department.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS
1. High School Diploma, G.E.D., or equivalent
2. An equivalent of ten years of experience post-high school that can be met by one of the following: ten years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology related position; an Associate's degree plus eight years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position; or a Bachelor's degree from an accredited institution plus six years of full-time work experience in a computer or technology-related position
3. Demonstrated English Language proficiency
4. A Motor Vehicle Driver's license, valid in New York State, may be required for some, but not all positions.
This title has three levels. In addition to the minimum qualifications above, To qualify for Levels 2 and 3, additional qualifications, such as education, experience, or certification relevant to the area of specialization are required.
OTHER QUALIFICATIONS
Preferred Qualifications:
+ Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science, Information Systems or related field
+ Experience with all aspects of software development life cycles
+ Knowledge of requirements gathering techniques – walk-throughs, focus groups, wire-framing
+ 6+ years full stack web development experience developing software in Microsoft environments – IIS, ASP.Net, VB.Net, C#, SQL Server, PowerShell
+ 2+ years of experience developing web applications on a LAMP stack – Linux, Apache, MySQL, PHP, JavaScript, React. Experience developing custom modules within the WordPress CMS platform preferred.
+ Experience implementing modern authentication solutions leveraging SAML/OAuth/OIDC/SCIM
+ Excellent written and oral communication skills

The selected candidate will be appointed as a temporary employee. Within 2 months of the establishment of the IT Senior Associate (OC), Exam #2086 and IT Senior Associate Promotional, Exam #2085, eligible list, the candidate must be reachable on the eligible list to be appointed as a probable permanent IT Senior Associate. If the selected candidate is not reachable within 2 months of list establishment, the candidate’s appointment will be terminated.
Candidates who have not passed the written test for IT Senior Associate (OC), Exam #2086 and IT Senior Associate (Promotional) Exam #2085, will not be considered.
