Description
As an assistant teacher, you will play a crucial role in shaping the educational and social development of young children aged 12 months to 4 years diagnosed with autism as well as children with typical developmental trajectories. Your primary responsibility is to support the lead teacher in creating a safe, nurturing, and engaging learning environment that promotes cognitive, emotional, physical, and social growth for all children. You will be responsible for working with the lead teacher to implement curriculum including the Frog Street curriculum and facilitating learning activities. You will comply with state, university, and practice policies and procedures and perform related responsibilities as required.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School Diploma/GED.
+ Priority will be given to completion of one year of college coursework toward a degree in early childhood education, special education, psychology, human development, or related field.
+ May pursue Early Childhood Education degree/credential/certificate within first year of hire.
+ Must be at least 18 years old, have reliable transportation and pass a background check.
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ At least one year of experience working with individuals with autism or other developmental disabilities.
+ Proven experience in a preschool setting or similar early childhood education environment preferred.
+ Experience working with children with autism preferred.
+ Strong knowledge of child development principles and age-appropriate teaching strategies.
+ Excellent verbal and written communication skills.
NOTE: Position tasks are required to be performed in-person at an Emory University location; working remote is not an option. Emory reserves the right to change this status with notice to employee.
