Job Description
Responsible for properly performing work requiring the application, concepts, practices, and terminology of accounting. Responsible for recording financial transactions, maintaining accurate and complete financial records, and providing management reports necessary for efficient operations. Responsible for recording all daily banking activity. Responsible for preparing various account reconciliations, including bank reconciliations, clearing account reconciliations, and other assigned accounts. Responsible for preparing reports for management and administration, TAMU System, and other external reporting agencies. Responsible for processing accounting entries to the Financial Accounting Management Information System (FAMIS), the Uniform Statewide Accounting System (USAS), and other accounting systems as needed. Responsible for performing internal review of various account activity for compliance with policies and procedures of the university, TAMU system, state and federal government.
Salary information: The expected salary range for this position is $44,441.04-$48,996.25.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES & RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Prints check vouchers daily from financial accounting system. Obtains daily banking activity reports, prepares and enters daily banking activity into the financial accounting system and distributes reports to other necessary personnel.
+ Prepares and enters journal entries, cash receipts, cash disbursements and other necessary entries into the financial accounting system.
+ Prepares reconciliations for university bank accounts, financial aid accounts, and clearing accounts and produces periodic reconciliation and management reports as required.
+ May assist with monitoring the the University’s online credit card payment systems.
+ Serves as backup for the Receiving area as needed.
+ Conducts University training under the supervision of the Controller .
+ Works with the Controller and other department accountants on additional financial accounting reports, including, but not limited to reports for management and administration, Legislative Budget Board and the Texas A&M University System and other agencies as required.
+ Communicates with accountants, Controller and staff in other departments regarding account balances, financial activity and other accounting related matters.
+ Must be able to make independent and informed accounting decisions based on generally accepted accounting principles and perform these functions in multiple and varied accounting systems.
+ Contributes to the effective team management of all relevant problems, issues, and opportunities.

KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS & ABILITIES:
Minimum Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree or equivalent combination of education and experience.
+ Ability to multitask and work cooperatively with others.
+ Oral and written communication skills
+ Customer service skills
Preferred Qualifications
+ Bachelor’s degree in Accounting
+ Two years of accounting experience in a business office.
+ Knowledge of federal and state regulations, fund accounting, and higher education accounting or auditing
+ Strong organizational skills and the ability to work well independently
+ Strong analytical skills with the ability to identify and assess risk and determine compliance
Other Requirements
+ Experience with MS Office
+ Must be proficient in word processing, spreadsheet, and database applications.
+ Requires occasional work beyond normal working office hours.
+ Ability to maintain confidentiality.
