The College of Liberal Arts is seeking a Professional Assistant Professor of Political Science in American Politics. The successful candidate will teach American Government and State and Local Government. The candidate will contribute to the teaching needs of the Political Science Program and Master of Public Administration Program with a special focus on Judicial Politics, Constitutional Law, and Administrative Law.
The Department of Social Sciences (DSOC) is a multi-disciplinary department in the College of Liberal Arts that offers undergraduate degrees in Political Science and Criminal Justice and the graduate degree of Master of Public Administration. Through its contribution to the core curriculum, Political Science is one of the largest generators of student credit hours for the university. The Criminal Justice program is one of the largest undergraduate majors on campus. The MPA program is the second largest graduate program in the College of Liberal Arts. DSOC faculty are leaders on campus, in the community, and in their disciplines. Required Qualifications:
+ PhD in Political Science or a closely related discipline from an accredited university . Advanced ABD will be considered; Degree must be conferred at the time of appointment.
+ The potential to teach in a variety of formats to include classroom, hybrid, and online courses.
+ Ability to teach courses in both the Political Science Program [including Judicial Politics, Constitution and Federalism, Research Methods, U.S. Government and Politics, and State/ Texas and Local Government] and Masters of Public Administration Program [including U.S. Institutions Government Institutions, Administrative Law, Administrative Ethics]
+ Ability to qualify for Graduate Faculty Status
