    Job Summary and Qualifications

     

    The surgical services scheduler is responsible for providing support for physician’s offices and communicating changes in the schedule to nursing leadership.

    PRINCIPAL DUTIES/RESPONSIBILITIES:

    + Functions as a receptionist/scheduler for the department.

    + Assists doctor’s office with scheduling of procedural cases.

    + Reviews scheduling duration of cases daily.

    + Facilitates communication with physician’s office staff and nursing staff.

    + Promotes a safe and therapeutic environment in all areas of the department.

    + Acts as a collaborative member of the health care team.

    + Assists and functions in all aspects within the scope of practice.

    What qualifications you will need:

    + High School Diploma, GED or equivalent. Technical or vocational training

    + Minimum 2 years as unit secretary in hospital setting; OR scheduling/billing experience preferred

    + Knowledge of Medical Terminology; proficient in Microsoft Office; Meditech experience preferred; CNA license preferred.
