The Safety Lead reports directly to the Safety Manager. In this role, the ideal candidate will be responsible for improving the safety culture in the assigned areas by identifying and addressing the concerns. The Safety Lead will also objectively investigate and communicate findings to management.

What you’ll do as a Lead Safey

+ Coordinate and facilitate the following functions: conduct safety training, conduct onsite inspections, investigate accidents or injuries
+ Document and maintain safety performance standards and specifications
+ Provides safety meeting support through topic suggestions, conducting safety meeting audits, and safety presentations.
+ Conducts random Job Safety Observations, as well as, auditing the JSO program in their division.
+ Review safety data, establish, and enforce safety guidelines and procedures
+ Lead and/or assist in the development of safety procedures, programs, and training as well as oversee safety programs
+ General clerical/administrative duties, tasks, and special projects as required or assigned
+ Participate in all post-accident conference calls in their respective area
+ Maintains baseline familiarity with OSHA and DOT regulations as applicable
+ Function as safety auditor and conduct safety audits as directed
+ Coordinate and facilitate in the following functions: issue safety equipment, conduct safety training programs, conduct onsite inspections of premises or equipment, investigate accidents or injuries
+ Evaluate safety performance of employees and sub-contractors, document violations
+ Review injury/illness and non-injury incident investigation reports. Provide follow-up, as necessary.
+ Monitor company performance in multiple areas using diverse computer applications and methods.
+ Oversee or assist with the response and correction of significant safety events such as severe injury/illness, regulatory action, negative press coverage, etc.
+ Document and maintain minimum safety performance standards and specifications.
+ Monitor and enforce Health & Safety/OSHA and DOT Compliance while interfacing with employees.
+ Participate in and/or facilitate all program activities, such as conference calls, workshops, compliance audits, reporting, etc.
+ Review all inspection reports, establish, and enforce safety guidelines and procedures.
+ Effectively communicate and collaborate with central leadership, regional operations, and teams to ensure that safety strategies and programs align with regulations, corporate expectations, and policies.
+ Lead and/or assist in the development of safety procedures, programs, and training as well as oversee safety programs.
+ Develop, maintain, and continuously improve the safety protocols, procedures, and tools of the safety program (self-assessment, compliance assurance, audit, etc.).
+ General clerical/administrative duties, tasks, and special projects as required or assigned.
+ All other duties as assigned to support the business needs.
What you’ll need
+ To be 18 years of age or older
+ Authorization to work in the United States for this company
+ Valid State driver's license (cannot be Provisional), including an acceptable driving record
+ Must be able to pass a background check and company drug screening.
+ Must be able to attend and pass all company required training as needed.
+ May be required to work over-time; after hours; on weekends or be on-call as work is needed to ensure work is completed.
+ May include working nights and holidays as needed.
Additional qualifications
+ Minimum 2 years of safety related field experience
+ Authorization to work in the United States for this company
+ Demonstrated knowledge of Federal OSHA Construction Regulations, Federal Motor Carrier Safety Administration (FMCSA), and DOT regulations
+ Experience providing safety training and implementing safety initiatives.
+ Project management experience.
+ Ability to learn and navigate multiple internal computer applications and to interact with the data contained therein to form conclusions and strategies based on that data.
+ Demonstrated experience presenting training material and leading project groups, including employees of all levels, vendors, and customers - expert trainer with the ability to train others as trainer.
+ Must have demonstrated skill in Microsoft Excel to include creation and use of pivot tables, Google Applications for Business, and additional Microsoft Office products and iPhone applications.
+ Must be able to demonstrate strong leadership skills including the ability to collaborate.
+ Strong documentation skills and proven analytical and problem-solving abilities in a changing environment.
+ Ability to prioritize workload, manage multiple tasks, meet deadlines, and work self-directed with a sense of urgency.
+ Strong interpersonal, organizational, oral, and written communications skills.
+ Must have and maintain a valid Driver's’ License and acceptable driving record; company vehicle assigned.
+ Able to travel extensively (approximately 30% of the time on average and up to 60% depending on business needs) - Travel is by car or air, Monday-Friday but, may extend over weekends, on occasion.
+ OSHA 30-hour Construction and/or General Industry Certification, preferred.
+ CPR, First AID, AED certified, preferred.
+ Power, Construction, or Telecom Industry experience, preferred.
+ Bilingual (English/Spanish), strongly preferred.

+ Duties outlined in this position will require the employee to stand, crouch, sit, bend, use hands and fingers to handle or feel as well as reaching with hands and arms to spaces both high and low. + The noise level in the work environment for this position is moderate.
+ Employees performing functions of this position are regularly exposed to outside weather conditions which can include but is not limited to: extreme heat and cold temperatures; inclement weather such as rain, snow, sleet and dust; adverse driving conditions including wet roads, icy roads, and fog.
+ Employees performing these job functions are required to lift or move up to 10 pounds and frequently lift or move up to 50 pounds in a shift with assistance.
+ Employees in this job classification may be exposed to dust, fumes or other airborne pathogens.
+ Specific vision abilities required to perform this job include but are not limited to: close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and the ability to adjust focus potentially near and/or far as needed.

Pay Range: Annual salary range for the Lead Safety position is $75,000 - $80,000 per year, depending on experience.
