Position Title: Security Specialist, Emerging Talent Intern
Hourly Rate: $19.00 (Undergraduate)
OVERVIEW OF DEPARTMENT:
Security is primarily responsible for all 24/7 security and video operations. Plan and coordinate security technology projects, manage and conduct sensitive and confidential investigations, including workplace violence and policy violations.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Develop knowledge of MNR operations, organization and strategic plan
+ Conduct research on the latest security-related technologies
+ Assist with electronic security systems i.e. access control issues
+ Compile KPI statistics to assess overall department performance
+ Provide support to our video operations staff as needed
+ Supporting the security team with video retrievals and archiving as directed
+ Attend project and technical meetings related to the department
+ Manage minor projects as directed from Deputy Chief Security Officer
PROJECTS:
+ Research and document alternative solutions for efficient video retrievals on existing and future MNR
+ Assist with identifying potential weaknesses related to access control systems
+ Analyze and report on regional and transit security issues to support a risk-based approach to all Metro-North security efforts
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Proficiency in Microsoft Office Suite is a must.
+ The candidate should possess organizational, analytical and communication skills.
+ The candidate should be able to work well under pressure and prioritize tasks effectively.
+ The candidate should have a keen eye for detail and be able to work independently while being an active team player.
REQUIRED EDUCATION:
+ Matriculated in an undergraduate program in good standing with at least 2.5 GPA
+ Major(s) Preferred: Matriculated undergraduate student studying Homeland Security, Environmental, Emergency Management, Occupational Health & Safety, Engineering, or other related fields
