Summary About the position: This position is Non-appropriated Fund (NAF) and will be assigned to the Outdoor Recreation - Rod and Gun Facility, Ft Dix, NJ. Responsibilities Performs and/or assists in operation and maintenance of recreational facilities. Establishes schedules of events as well as the rules and regulations to be observed. Types of duties include, but are not limited to the following: Tests water-skiing and boating equipment for safe operation; demonstrates safety and conservation techniques for campsites, water sports area, firing ranges, and hunting areas; demonstrates equipment and techniques of various outdoor activities such as camping, swimming, and boating; sets up gymnasiums and playing fields for sports events, tournaments, and practice games when such assignments require a practical knowledge of the rules and procedures of such activities (i.e., are not simple manual labor assignments); inspects outdoor recreation and sports facilities and equipment for security and general conditions; and schedules campsites, cabins, boats, and other outdoor recreation equipment and areas for use, with responsibility for seeing that they are vacated or returned in good order. Performs other related duties as assigned. The duties, activities, or responsibilities of this position require the employee to do one or more of the following: use firearms or ammunition; sell or dispose of firearms or ammunition; receive, possess, ship or transport firearms; or other duties, activities or responsibilities covered by the Gun Control Act (Title 18, U.S. C. §922). Qualifying Experience: This position is covered by the Domestic Violence Misdemeanor Amendment (30 Sep 96) of the Gun Control Act (Lautenberg Amendment) of 1968. An individual convicted of a misdemeanor crime of domestic violence may not perform the duties of this position. Conditions of Employment: Incumbent must satisfactorily complete a favorable Tier Level 1 background investigation and must satisfactorily complete a National Agency Check with Inquiries (NACI). This is a drug testing designated position. The incumbent is subject to random testing for drug use. This position does not allow for education substitution. FOREIGN EDUCATION: Education completed in foreign colleges or universities may be used to meet the requirements.
