    Position overview Position title: Assistant or Associate Professor of Ophthalmology

    Salary range: The posted UC salary scales (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/compensation/index.html) set the minimum pay determined by rank and step at appointment. See Table 5/Scale 3. The salary range for this position is $102,600 - $309,800. This position includes membership in the health sciences compensation plan (https://www.ucop.edu/academic-personnel-programs/\_files/apm/apm-670.pdf), which provides for eligibility for additional compensation.

    Position description

    The Jules Stein Eye Institute and Department of Ophthalmology invite applications for outstanding scientists at the Assistant or Associate Professor level investigating topics broadly relevant to vision science. Salary and rank will be commensurate with credentials and experience. The candidate will join a dynamic community of vision scientists whose work spans understanding the basic science underlying visual processing, visual disorders and converting laboratory discoveries into treatments. The Jules Stein Eye Institute contains an interdisciplinary and highly collaborative group of independent investigators, with the shared goal of understanding eye biology and visual processing.

     

    We are seeking individuals tackling current problems in visual processing, vision loss and/or vision restoration using molecular, cellular, electrophysiological, and/or behavioral approaches. We are interested in candidates pursing basic and/or translational research. Candidates will be expected to lead independent and federally-funded research programs. Furthermore, candidates should have demonstrated potential for outstanding academic contributions.

     

    The Search Committee also seeks candidates committed to contributions to equity, diversity and inclusion, and we welcome candidates whose experience in teaching, research, and/or community service has prepared them to contribute to our commitment to diversity and excellence.

    Qualifications

    Basic qualifications

    Ph.D. and/or M.D., or equivalent

    Additional qualifications

    Research focus on visual processing, vision loss and/or vision restoration using molecular, cellular, electrophysiological, and/or behavioral approaches.

    Preferred qualifications

    -- Publications in leading peer-reviewed journals.

     

    -- Presentations at national or international conferences.
