Description

Lake-City based client is seeking an experienced Accounting Supervisor with 3+ years in a leadership role to oversee daily accounting operations and ensure accuracy in financial reporting. The ideal candidate will have a strong background in accrual accounting and experience managing a small team. This is a hands-on position requiring deep technical expertise and the ability to lead by example.

Responsibilities:

• Manage and oversee general accounting activities, including transaction recording, account classification, and reconciliation to ensure accuracy and compliance with company policies.

• Supervise all accounting functions within the Supply Division, including accounts payable, accounts receivable, inventory management, order processing, and purchasing.

• Lead month-end closing procedures, including preparing inventory listings, margin reports, billing cutoffs, and commission calculations.

• Maintain and update balance sheet reconciliations, schedules for general ledger accounts, and prepare journal entries

• File state and local sales and use tax returns for all applicable regions where the company operates.

• Assist in preparing and reviewing supporting documentation for audits, both internal and external.

• Oversee inventory-related activities such as cycle counts, physical counts, and schedule updates.

• Mentor and develop accounting and administrative staff, fostering growth through training, clear communication of policies, and constructive feedback.

• Analyze financial data to identify trends, issues, or opportunities for improvement and propose actionable solutions.

Requirements

Minimum 3 years of accounting supervisory experience

Proficient in Dynamics SL and advanced Excel (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, macros)

Strong knowledge of accrual accounting principles

BS/BA in Accounting preferred

Proven track record as a hands-on leader with attention to detail and initiative
