Description
We are looking for an experienced and detail-oriented Accounting Manager to join our non-profit client with a substantial real estate portfolio in Los Angeles, California. This role will provide critical support to both the Finance/Accounting and Real Estate/Property Management teams, ensuring smooth financial operations and accurate reporting. The ideal candidate thrives in a mission-driven, collaborative environment and demonstrates strong initiative and organizational skills.
Responsibilities:
• Oversee the preparation, review, and analysis of financial statements, tax returns, and audited financial documents.
• Manage the general ledger by recording quarterly accrual entries and ensuring compliance with corporate reporting standards.
• Review and maintain tenant lease agreements and amendments, ensuring accurate data entry into the accounting system.
• Collaborate with vendors and tenants by managing relationships, facilitating insurance renewals, and resolving account-related inquiries.
• Address and resolve accounts payable and receivable discrepancies in a timely and efficient manner.
• Supervise and mentor a Property Accountant, providing guidance and support as needed.
• Assist in preparing financial reports and forecasts to support strategic decision-making.
• Ensure compliance with financial regulations and internal policies to maintain operational integrity.
• Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the accounting and real estate functions.
Requirements • Bachelor’s degree in accounting, finance, or a related field, with 3-5+ years of progressive experience in real estate accounting.
• Preference for candidates with an accounting degree or equivalent qualifications.
• Familiarity with MRI or similar accounting systems is a plus but not mandatory.
• Strong verbal and written communication skills, with exceptional attention to detail.
• Proven ability to work collaboratively in team settings while also independently managing tasks and projects.
• Highly organized with excellent problem-solving and time management abilities.
• Skilled in building and maintaining effective relationships with vendors, tenants, and stakeholders.
• Demonstrated discretion and ability to handle sensitive information with confidentiality.
