• Staff Accountant

    Description

    Lana Funkhouser with Robert Half is seeking a detail-oriented and reliable Staff Accountant to join the team of one of her growing clients. This role is integral in supporting day-to-day accounting operations, ensuring accurate financial reporting, and maintaining compliance with internal policies and external regulations. The ideal candidate will have a solid foundation in accounting principles and a strong desire to contribute to a mission-driven organization. Experience in the non-profit or lending/banking sector is a plus.

    Key Responsibilities:

    + Prepare and post journal entries and maintain general ledger accounts

    + Assist with month-end and year-end closing processes

    + Reconcile bank statements and balance sheet accounts regularly

    + Process accounts payable and accounts receivable transactions

    + Assist with budgeting and forecasting processes

    + Support preparation of audit schedules and respond to auditor inquiries

    + Help ensure compliance with internal controls and financial procedures

    + Prepare financial reports for internal stakeholders and external partners

    + Contribute to process improvements and efficiency initiatives within the accounting team

    Requirements

    + Bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field

    + 2+ years of accounting experience, preferably in a non-profit or financial services environment

    + Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or similar ERP systems)

    + Strong understanding of GAAP and general accounting procedures

    + Excellent attention to detail and organizational skills

    + Proficiency in Microsoft Excel and other MS Office applications

    + Ability to handle confidential information with integrity and professionalism

    + Effective communication skills and a team-oriented mindset

    + Experience with fund accounting or grant reporting (for non-profit experience)

    + Familiarity with regulatory requirements in the banking/lending industry

    + CPA or progress toward certification is a plus
