    Duties Description Conducts risk assessments of allegations or indications of potential fraud.o Review complaints and referrals from other OSC Division, outside agencies, and taxpayers.o Develops risk assessment strategies and tools related to affirmative examinations of potential fraud.o Performs research on the functions of the entity to be examined to determine its purpose, organization, funds involved, and applicable laws, rules, and regulations governing its operation.o Assists in establishing the scope of audits/examinations of potential fraud by analyzing and determining areas to examine and the time frame to be examined.o Assists in planning audit/examinationsConducts audits/examinations of potential fraud.o Performs various tests, reviews, reconciliations, analyses and evaluations of accounts, claims, records, and procedures.o Assists in ongoing audit/examination strategy and planning.o Obtains, reviews and conducts forensic analysis of financial data.o Conducts interviews of relevant witnesses.o Prepares narrative reports of audit/examination tasks and findings.o Performs analysis and research to trace funds and identify assets for recovery.o Prepares forensic accounting reports from financial findings.Assists law enforcement and administrative agencies in pursuing matters of potential fraud.o Performs analysis of relevant materials.o Regularly interacts and provides guidance to federal, state and local enforcement and administrative enforcement agencies.o Assists law enforcement and administrative agencies in obtaining relevant documentation and other evidence.o Prepares analytical data for litigations.o Testifies, as required, in legal proceedings.

A currently valid Certified Public Accountant license and registration issued by New York State.Competitive Minimum Qualifications:You must be currently reachable on the appropriate eligible list for this title, eligible under the 55 b/c program, or eligible to transfer to this title under Section 70.1 of the Civil Service Law.Transfer:For 70.1 transfer to an Auditor 1, salary grade (SG-18), you must have one year of permanent competitive, or 55-b/55-c service in an approved title for transfer allocated to an SG-16 or above. SG-12 or above for a Trainee 1, SG-14 or above for a Trainee 2, depending on qualifications. If approved for transfer appointment, you must also meet the special requirement below:• 24 credit hours in accounting, auditing, or taxation.To determine if your current Civil Service title is eligible for transfer to this title, visit the Career Mobility GOT-IT website: Career Mobility Office » GOT-IT (ny.gov) Appointments via transfer must not result in a second, consecutive transfer with an advancement of more than two S-grades or one M-grade. Depending on qualifications, you may be required to serve a 1 or 2-year traineeship that leads to the full level SG-18 position.

Generally, employees new to OSC will be restricted from telecommuting for at least 8 calendar weeks.
