    Department Summary

    The UO Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry offers undergraduate major and minor degrees in Chemistry and Biochemistry, and Graduate Degrees at the Master's and PhD level.

     

    Our undergraduate program provides training for students planning careers in the chemical and biological sciences, and also for those in biology, health-related disciplines, earth sciences, secondary education, business, journalism, and law.

    Position Summary

    The Department of Chemistry and Biochemistry at the University of Oregon is seeking qualified applicants for its open pool for research positions. Positions are limited-duration appointments that are part-time or short-term contracts not to exceed one year. There may be a possibility of renewal up to a total of three years, depending on programmatic need, funding, and performance.

Pro Tempore Research Assistant positions conduct research under the direction of a principal investigator; Pro Tempore Research Associate positions conduct research with increased independence; & Postdoctoral Scholars conduct research under the mentorship of a faculty member.

    Minimum Requirements by Rank

    • Research Assistant (Type B): Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field

    • Senior Research Assistant I (Type B): Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field plus 6 years of applicable work experience post degree

    • Senior Research Assistant II (Type B): Bachelor's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field plus 12 years of applicable work experience post degree

    • Research Assistant (Type C): Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field

    • Senior Research Assistant I (Type C): Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field plus 6 years of applicable work experience post degree

    • Senior Research Assistant II (Type C): Master's degree in biology, chemistry, or related field plus 12 years of applicable work experience post degree

    • Postdoctoral Scholar: Terminal degree in biology, chemistry, or related field

    • Research Associate: Terminal degree in biology, chemistry, or related field

    • Senior Research Associate I: Terminal degree in biology, chemistry, or related field plus 6 years of applicable work experience post degree

    • Senior Research Associate II: Terminal degree in biology, chemistry, or related field plus 12 years of applicable work experience post degree
