Job Title: Emergency Department Assistant
Department: Emergency Department
Hours Per Week: As needed
Schedule: 12 hour shifts (7am – 7 pm and 7pm – 7am); variable days; weekends and holidays
SUMMARY:
An Emergency Department Assistant plays a vital role in patient care by providing basic, age-appropriate support under the direct supervision of a registered nurse. This position focuses on ensuring patients' comfort, safety, and well-being while maintaining their privacy and confidentiality at all times. Through compassionate care and attention to detail, the Emergency Department Assistant helps create a supportive and reassuring environment for patients and their families.
RESPONSIBILITIES:
+ Maintains patient privacy, confidentiality, and safety at all times.
+ Performs technical tasks, including measuring vital signs, EKGs, and specimen collection/transport.
+ Assists with patient transport, admissions, discharges, and transfers.
+ Keeps areas clean, sanitizes equipment, and ensures proper stocking of supplies.
+ Responds promptly to patient needs and call lights, communicating effectively with staff.
+ Enforces safety measures and assists with patient observation and restraints as directed.
+ Supports hospital operations through teamwork, CPR assistance, and performance improvement efforts.
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ High School Diploma (Or equivalent)
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
+ Certified Medical Assistant (CMA)
+ Emergency Medical Technician (EMT)
UNION:
CSEA - Civil Service Employees Association (MH)

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:
S - Sedentary Work - Exerting up to 10 pounds of force occasionally Sedentary work involves sitting most of the time, but may involve walking or standing for brief periods of time. Jobs are sedentary if walking and standing are required only occasionally and all other sedentary criteria are met.

PAY RANGE:
$18.92 - $25.58
The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant. It may be modified in the future and eligible for additional pay components. Pay is determined by factors including experience, relevant qualifications, specialty, internal equity, location, and contracts.
