Job Title: EMS Driver

Department: Emergency Medical Services

Hours Per Week: Full Time

Schedule: Variable shift/days, weekends, and holidays ; 12 hour shifts

SUMMARY:

The EMS Driver is responsible for providing safe, timely, and high-quality emergency and non-emergency transportation for sick or injured patients, ensuring compassionate care and support throughout the transport process.

RESPONSIBILITIES:

+ Responds promptly to dispatched emergency and non-emergency calls.

+ Conducts pre-shift vehicle inspections, checking fluids, fuel, and reporting any maintenance needs.

+ Ensures the ambulance is clean, sanitized, and fully stocked with necessary medical supplies.

+ Assists with safely loading and unloading patients using gurneys.

+ Administers basic first aid, including bandaging, splinting, and oxygen delivery when required.

+ Maintains accurate driving logs, including patient information, mileage, and service details.

+ Reports accident details to appropriate medical personnel and law enforcement when necessary.

+ Exposure to potential biohazards (OSHA Category II).

+ Must maintain regular and punctual attendance, with flexibility to work over 40 hours per week, including evenings, weekends, or swing shifts as needed.

REQ UIRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ High School diploma or GED

+ AHA BLS

+ NYS Driver’s License

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:

+ Minimum two years’ driving an ambulance

PHYSICAL REQUIREMENTS:

M - Medium Work - Exerting 20 to 50 pounds of force occasionally, and/or 10 to 25 pounds of force frequently, and/or greater than negligible up to 10 pounds of force constantly to move objects; Requires frequent walking, standing or squatting.

The listed base pay range is a good faith representation of current potential base pay for a successful full time applicant.
