Civil Engineer

Key Responsibilities:

+ Traffic Engineering: Assist with routine traffic engineering tasks under close supervision, gaining familiarity with our software programs, staff, and procedures.

+ Field Work: Periodically collect and compile traffic data such as volume and speed for analysis.

+ Data Analysis: Request and analyze crash data, review auxiliary lane and traffic signal warrants.

+ Simulation & Modeling: Create traffic models using simulation software.

+ Plan Development: Assist in creating traffic signal, pavement marking, signing, street lighting, and traffic control plans.

+ Design Tasks: Compute quantities for traffic engineering design tasks and check specifications for adherence to engineering standards.

+ Signal Timing: Assist in developing signal timing and coordination plans.

+ Technical Reports: Write technical reports and prepare responses to client and public inquiries.

+ Civil Design: Perform civil design calculations, sketches, technical comparisons, and similar tasks.

+ Coordination: Coordinate project assignments with other engineers and technicians.

+ Drawing Review: Review drawings from vendors, clients, engineers, and architects, recommending necessary changes.

+ CADD Drawings: Create quality CADD drawings.

+ Code Research: Research code issues and collaborate with City, State, and County officials.

+ Design Options: Research design options and document findings for project engineers/managers.

+ Client Interaction: Attend kick-off and design review meetings, interacting with clients as experience progresses.

Skills Required:

+ Proficiency in Civil 3D and Microstation (willingness to learn both if not already proficient)

+ Strong knowledge in transportation, roadway, traffic engineering, and traffic studies

+ Experience with AutoCAD Civil 3D, highway design, traffic analysis, and civil engineering

+ Ability to perform traffic impact analysis, traffic control, and traffic impact studies

+ Familiarity with road diets, geometrics, and civil design
