Job Description
We are looking for a dedicated Medical Assistant to join our team. In this role, you will support the delivery of primary health care and patient care management. Your responsibilities will include performing nursing and administrative duties, preparing patients for examinations and treatments, and ensuring the smooth operation of the medical office. A diploma from a Medical Assistant program is required. While certification is not mandatory, it is highly preferred. We also offer opportunities for non-certified medical assistants to obtain certification and receive training through our company!
Summary:
- Greet and check patients in, ensure all paperwork is completed with their contact information, medication history, insurance, etc.
- Prior authorizations, referrals, insurance verifications, etc (no billing or coding)
- Some phone work and data entry as needed.
- Greet and room 5-6 patients/hour to prepare the patient for the pre op, post op, or general check up appointment. This adds up to 40+ patients/day.
- Check vitals (Body Temperature, Pulse Rate, Respiration Rate, Blood Pressure)
- Triage patients and assess any symptoms, review/update medication and vaccination history, confirm family medical history
- Very hands on role with the patient by assisting with pen removals, cast removals, suture removals, wound care, assist with minor surgeries, casting, fitting for braces or boots, etc.
- X-rays are included for diagnosing injuries - Opportunity to get X-ray certified and recognized by the state of IN!
Additional Skills & Qualifications - Must Have:
- Medical Assistant schooling (ie - Brightwood college, IN school of Phlebotomy, Harrison college, Vincennes University, etc)
- Only 1-3 years of back office medical assistant experience in a clinical setting (example: clinic, hospital, medical practice, etc)
+ Medical Assistant, Emr, certified medical assistant, vitals, injections, blood draws, passion for patient care.
Nice to Have:
- Active medical assistant certification (CMA, CCMA, RMA, AAMA, NHA, etc.)
- Podiatry, Orthopedics, Family practice, Urology specialty experience
- Hospital experience
PERSONALITY:
-Excellent patient care/customer service skills as well as the ability to work in a fast paced environment.
-Must be able to act calmly and effectively in a busy or stressful situation.
-Requires adherence to all policies for safety, attendance, punctuality and personal appearance.

Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $19.00 - $19.50/hr.
