We are seeking an Automotive Engineering Technician to support Wind Tunnel Testing in a Research and Development environment. In this role, you will be responsible for setting up and conducting aerodynamic wind tunnel tests, preparing vehicle/model components, and supporting aerodynamics engineers during physical tests.
Responsibilities
+ Prepare both 40% scale and/or full scale vehicle/model components and systems for testing.
+ Return equipment and vehicle to pre-test condition after testing is complete.
+ Support aerodynamics engineers during tests by making parts changes for aerodynamic specification setting.
+ Conduct routine maintenance and checks of test equipment.
+ Operate data acquisition equipment and analysis software as needed.
+ Perform basic equipment setup diagnostics and troubleshooting.
+ Maintain a log of maintenance activities and conduct periodic walk-throughs and equipment checks.
+ Order supplies and equipment as necessary.
+ Travel to offsite locations to support tests as needed.
+ Operate all equipment correctly and safely, and instruct less experienced technicians as needed.
+ Troubleshoot all testing equipment to a component level.
+ Use lab scheduling and data storage software/systems.
+ Fabricate or modify parts or systems to match design directions.
+ Break testing into tasks and direct others on those tasks.
+ Apply standard techniques, procedures, and criteria to perform assigned tasks as part of a broader assignment.
Essential Skills
+ 6+ years of closely related experience or an associate degree in a related field with 4+ years of experience.
+ Experience in engineering, transmission, automotive repair, automotive mechanics, dyno testing, automotive maintenance, automotive fabrication, and automotive testing.
+ Automotive Technician Degree.
+ Strong mechanical and electrical skills (3-5 years).
+ Automotive Technician experience (2-3 years).
+ Automotive testing experience (3-5 years).
+ Experience with troubleshooting mechanical, electrical, and drivetrain systems.
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Experience in wind tunnel testing.
+ Ability to fabricate or modify parts.
+ Proficiency in using lab scheduling and data storage software/systems.
Work Environment
This role operates within a Research and Development environment, working with a team of 10 individuals. The position offers a long-term opportunity with training on various transmission tests and exposure to Dyno equipment.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $28.00 - $29.00/hr.
