Job Description

We are looking for a Tooling Engineer to act as a liaison between the toolroom and engineering, bridging the gap between these two departments.

Responsibilities

+ Spend time on the toolroom floor to understand tooling descriptions and terminology

+ Use measuring equipment and hand tools (micrometers and calipers) to verify details and compare against CAD drawings for verification of BOM and models

+ Review and interpret 2D and 3D drawings to determine necessary dimension changes

+ Capture details off tooling and equipment to update measurements for design

+ Drafting and design changes for fixtures and existing tooling

+ Participate in design review meetings for new die builds

+ Support Engineering with administrative paperwork and tool books

+ Support production to meet deadlines by communicating between all departments: toolroom, engineering, machining, and maintenance teams

Essential Skills

+ 2+ years of tool and die experience

+ Hands-on measuring or inspection experience

+ 2D AutoCAD exposure

+ Experience working on or alongside design teams

+ Knowledge of CAD drawings and Bill of Materials

Additional Skills & Qualifications

+ 3D design experience

+ Scanning / 3D printing experience or willingness to learn

Work Environment

The production floor is a stamping environment, which can be loud at times, but is very clean. The separate Tooling department is clean, quiet, and organized, consisting of 10-12 people on the first shift, including Machinists, Programmers, and Tool & Die Makers. This position involves working between the toolroom and engineering, with occasional work on the production floor. The role is a salaried exempt position with a 1st shift schedule: Monday through Thursday from 7 AM to 4:30 PM, and Fridays from 7 AM to 3:30 PM.

Pay and Benefits

The pay range for this position is $29.00 - $36.00/hr.
