Job Title: Outside Forklift Operator - 1st Shift
Job Description
We are looking for dedicated candidates to assist with Packager/Forklift operations. The role involves a mix of production and forklift duties, including setting up machines, stacking pallets, operating bagging machines, shoveling salt, loading and unloading trucks, bagging products, cleaning work areas, and maintaining accurate production records. Candidates will not be on the forklift 100% of the time each day.
Responsibilities
+ Set up machine on the line by selecting a program and pushing a button
+ Stack pallets of bagged salt with a forklift
+ Operate bagging machine to fill and seal bags
+ Shovel salt outside when needed to clean up spills
+ Load and unload flatbed trucks using a forklift
+ Bag products as required
+ Clean work area daily
+ Complete production paperwork accurately, reporting during and at the end of the shift
+ Maintain accurate records of production data
Essential Skills
+ At least 3 years of sit-down propane forklift experience
+ Proficiency in loading/unloading trailers and driving in outdoor/rough environments
+ Manufacturing or production experience with an understanding of production metrics
+ Ability to work outside in various weather conditions year-round
+ Ability to lift up to 50 lbs consistently
+ Steel-toed boots/shoes
Additional Skills & Qualifications
+ Forklift certification
+ Experience as a heavy equipment operator
+ Experience loading flatbed trucks efficiently

Work Environment
The work environment is in a rock salt mine, and employees will work outside in various weather conditions. The dress code includes jeans/shorts, a T-shirt with no offensive language or logos, and steel-toed boots/shoes. A uniform will be provided when brought on direct. The shift is Monday to Friday with staggered break times and optional overtime on Saturdays, especially during the busy winter season.

This is a Contract position based out of Detroit, Michigan.
Pay and Benefits
The pay range for this position is $17.00 - $18.00/hr.
