    The Colorado Department of Military & Veterans Affairs (DMVA) has four major operational divisions: Army National Guard, Air National Guard, Civil Air Patrol, and Veterans Affairs. These divisions utilize state and federal resources to provide our communities, state, and nation with a ready military force for national defense and State emergency response as well as providing assistance to our Colorado Veterans.

    Description of Job

    This position is part of our Air National Guard division and will work at our Greeley location as part of the Air National Guard Civil Engineering branch. This position will work as part of a team to perform general trades maintenance activities under the direction and guidance of a State Maintenance Supervisor with general trades maintenance activities. While the primary duty location for this position is Greeley Air National Guard Station, the member will be required to report to Buckley Space Force Base two days per week for up to a year in order to indoctrinate the member in Air National Guard/Civil Engineering philosophy and participate in on-the-job training. Working hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm . Specific duties include, but are not limited to:

     

    + performing custodial duties for the facilities to include cleaning and sanitizing all bathroom fixtures, kitchen areas, and drinking fountains to include removing trash, mopping floors, and restocking supplies;

    + repairing, applying, and finishing drywall, patching holes in walls, texturing, and re-gluing cove bases on a variety of surfaces to include stucco, concrete, and metal;

    + prepping, priming, and painting interior and exterior surfaces using a variety of paint;

    + transporting, assembling, moving, disassembling furniture and equipment;

    + cleaning, sweeping, mopping mechanical rooms, work sites, and shop areas upon completion of tasks;

    + digging holes and trenches to repair and install sprinkler systems;

    + replacing light bulbs, ballast, and controls in a variety of environments;

    + maintaining grounds to include raking lawns, pest control, fencing, and sweeping sidewalks;

    + scheduling grounds watering schedule, cutting and trimming lawns, flower beds, trees, removing weeds and applying pesticides;

    + snow removal using shovels, snow blowers, and front end loaders and tractors;

    + inventorying, maintaining, and cleaning equipment, tools, shops, and supply cabinets on a daily basis;

    + performing administrative tasks such as inspecting facilities, checking and maintaining hazmat and SDS sheets, updating hazardous material inventories, and preparing a variety of documents as required;

    + escorting contractors and suppliers on base and inspecting their work;

    + operating a variety of tools and equipment;

    + performing a variety of physical activities such as erecting scaffolding, operating boom lifts and scissor lifts, lifting furniture, and lifting and moving large ladders;

    + processing work requests and work orders in a computerized maintenance management system (CMMS); and

    + other duties as assigned.

     

    Minimum Qualifications, Substitutions, Conditions of Employment & Appeal Rights

    MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:

    + This position is a weather/event essential position and may require periods of overtime or on-call. Must be willing to work evenings and weekends when necessary;

    + Must be able to perform physical work involving general tasks including hauling, lifting, moving, and digging;

    + Must have a mechanical aptitude.

    + Must be willing and able to operate a variety of hand tools and equipment.

    + Must be able to work independently as well as part of a team.

    + Must possess a valid and current State of Colorado Driver's License.

    CONDITIONS OF EMPLOYMENT:

    + Must be willing to pass a background check at initial employment and every few years thereafter.

    + Continued employment is conditional upon the successful completion of a security clearance within the first six months of employment.

    + Must be willing to submit to random drug and alcohol testing.

    + Working hours are Monday through Friday, 6:30 am to 3:00 pm .

    + Must be willing to work overtime and on-call as needed.

    + Must be willing to work after hours or pre-hours performing snow removal operations and/or assisting other areas as needed.
