The Senior Professional Staff Nurse II is a Registered Nurse who sets care standards, leads nursing care, and drives process improvements. Responsibilities:
+ Acts as a unit leader in clinical expertise, teaching, and evidence-based practice while promoting changes to enhance patient care.
+ Participates in shared governance and fosters a healing environment through Relationship-Based Care.
+ Demonstrates critical thinking, solid communication, and compassionate care to improve patient outcomes.
+ Precepts and mentors others, shares knowledge, and applies evidence-based practice to drive clinical quality and workplace improvements.
+ Builds strong professional relationships, addresses workplace issues, and maintains work-life balance through effective prioritization
+ Minimum 3 years experience.
+ BSN preferred.
+ Completion of annual contribution as set forth through UPMC's My Nursing Career Ladder.
+ UPMC approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/promotion and must be maintained.
+ Certification not required if Master's in nursing or DNP is held.
+ If a BSN is held, a Master's degree in a related field may be substituted in lieu of Certification
+ Must demonstrate the knowledge and skills to provide age-appropriate care and assess patient needs based on growth and development principles. Maintain Solid/Strong/Good rating or higher on performance evaluations for promotion and maintenance.
+ Must build positive relationships with colleagues, handle complex environments, and manage changing priorities and equipment.
+ Exemplary clinical judgment, critical thinking, and problem-solving skills are essential, along with physical stamina and dexterity for patient care activities. **Licensure, Certifications, and Clearances:**
+ Annual completion of a professional contribution selected from department, hospital or system gals, and approved by Unit Director AND either:UPMC approved nursing certification required within 1 year of hire/transfer and must be maintained.
+ CPR required based on AHA standards that include both a didactic and skills demonstration component within 30 days of hire.
+ Current licensure as a Registered Professional Nurse either in the state where the facility is located or in a state covered by a licensure compact agreement with the state where the facility is located.
+ Basic Life Support (BLS) OR Cardiopulmonary Resuscitation (CPR)
+ Act 31 / 33 / 34 / 73 Child Abuse Reporting with renewal
*Current licensure either in the state where the facility is located or, if the facility is in a state covered by the multistate Nursing Licensure Compact (NLC) agreement, a multistate license issued by a participating NLC state. Hires and current employees working on an out-of-state NLC license who later change their residency to the state where the facility is also located will have 60 days upon changing their residency to apply for licensure within that state.
