As a Medical Device I-Product Engineer at Solta Medical, the successful candidate will help create our next generation of world-leading energy-based aesthetic products. S/He will conceive, design, and bring into production products that define the industry. As a member of Solta’s technical staff, the Product Engineer I is expected to assist with innovative technical solutions using his/her knowledge and experience of Electrical and Mechanical Engineering, specifically a variety of heating and cooling systems, electromechanical assemblies, control mechanisms, and the materials/processes specific to our industry.
The successful candidate will implement product designs for performance, innovation, reliability, and cost. S/He will not only conceptualize solutions, but follow through with detailed CAD designs, prototyping, testing, supplier management, and documentation. S/He should have strong written and verbal communication skills and openness to working in a team environment.
Principle Responsibilities and Duties:
Note: The following are meant to be representative but not necessarily all inclusive of the duties and responsibilities for this position title.
• Document and maintain legacy FPGA code and board designs.
• Conduct failure mode, Safety, and Hazard analysis and document new and legacy device designs.
• Assist Manufacturing and Service departments in reliability and failure analysis investigations and solutions.
• Design sheet metal and plastic parts and assemblies, taking into account serviceability, manufacturability, cost, testability, modularity, packaging, usability, and aesthetics.
• Engineer mobile platforms for directed energy aesthetic surgical systems that incorporated lasers, RF power generators, vacuum
• Work with Sr. Engineers and Project Managers to align engineering design tasks with project schedules, to provide transparency regarding progress, and to proactively identify schedule constraints.
• Coordinate and/or conduct verification and validation testing in accordance with applicable international standards.
Experience, Education, Training :
• BSEE/BSME or equivalent technical degree required. One to two years of experience in engineering is desirable.
• Knowledge of plastic injection molding (single/multiple shot, over/insert molding, IMD, etc.), sheet metal (forming, cutting, plating, joining), materials (polymers, elastomers, ceramics, glass, metals), PCA fabrication, EMI/EMC, and cable design.
• Familiarity with 3D CAD software, preferably Pro/Engineer (advanced surfacing, sheet metal, assembly) and related PDM systems
• Ability to focus on and achieve scheduled milestones, including contingency planning.
• Strong team-work and communication skills.
• Ability to present findings and conduct design reviews in cross-functional team meetings.
• A drive to get the job done in the face of obstacles and time constraints, and a willingness to jump in wherever needed.
• Competent using office software including MS Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Internet Explorer and Outlook.
• Demonstrated skills in problem definition, data collection and analysis, generating solid conclusions and recommendations.
• Candidate must have some experience with system-level electrical design and integration, design for EMC and signal integrity, and RF immunity.
• Demonstrated aptitude in design best practice.General knowledge of working within ESD environments required.
As required by law, Bausch Health provides a reasonable range of compensation for roles that may be hired in the US. Actual compensation is influenced by a wide array of factors including but not limited to skill set, level of experience, and specific office location. For this role, the range of starting pay for this role is $64k to 96k per year.
