Your Role:
Injury prevention is the responsibility of all trauma team members working in collaboration with the community. The organization of these efforts begins with effective leadership. Trauma centers must have an organized and effective approach to injury prevention and must prioritize those efforts based on local trauma registry and epidemiologic data.
Your Requirements:
• Bachelor’s degree in Nursing required.
• Community health education or public health experience preferred.
• Licensed as a Registered Nurse in the State of Texas (if Nurse)
• License/Certification: Advanced Cardio Life Support- Advance Cardiac Life Support.
• License/Certification: ATCN- (Advances Trauma Care Nursing) or TNCC (Trauma Nursing Core. Course) certification or will obtain within 1 year of hire.
• License/Certification- Basic Life Support Basic Life Support.
Your Responsibilities:
• Leads Methodist Mansfield/MHS injury prevention activities as directed by the American College of Surgeons Committee on Trauma requirements for Level 2 trauma programs.
• Identifies and priorities injury prevention needs utilizing the Trauma Center registry database and other pertinent databases.
• Serves on community committees, boards, task forces to advocate for safety programs.
• Coordinates injury prevention programs for a variety of audiences and age groups.
• Assures injury prevention activities for impaired driving are offered.
• Reviews Trauma Center registry data annually to assure prevention activities are targeting the groups most at risk.
• Develops criteria for evaluation of effectiveness of injury prevention activities.
• Presents IP program evaluation data with other recognized leaders in injury prevention programs following MHS approved policy.
• Participates in State and American College of Surgeons trauma center site visits presenting documentation of effectiveness of injury prevention activities.
• Participates in community events, meetings, and maintain relationships with referring agencies and community members throughout the region.
• Participates in the research goals of the trauma program, as applicable, when requested.
• Other duties as assigned.
