    Join a high-impact, mission-driven team supporting the U.S. Geological Survey (USGS). As a Cloud Infrastructure Architect, you’ll design and implement secure, scalable infrastructure that powers national scientific research platforms, mapping systems, and public data services.

     

    You’ll lead efforts to modernize hybrid cloud environments, automate infrastructure management, and guide infrastructure-as-code and DevOps practices—all while collaborating with skilled engineers and developers who care about making a difference.

    REQUIREMENTS:

    + Bachelor’s degree AND 5+ years of relevant experience

    + Demonstrated expertise in managing Windows and Linux environments to support hybrid cloud operations, ensuring compatibility and reliability across mission-critical USGS systems.

    + Proven experience applying DevOps methodologies to streamline deployment workflows and enhance system observability using AWS services such as EC2, Lambda, CloudWatch, and Auto-Scaling.

    + Hands-on proficiency in infrastructure automation using tools like Ansible, Puppet, Chef, Docker, and PowerShell DSC to maintain consistent and secure configurations across cloud and on-prem resources.

    + Demonstrated ability to implement and manage CI/CD pipelines using Jenkins and GitLab CI/CD to support agile development and automated testing for USGS cloud-based applications.

    + Strong coding proficiency in Python, JavaScript, Ruby, Java, and PHP, used to support infrastructure logic, automation scripts, and system integrations within Terraform and Infrastructure-as-Code frameworks.
