The Department of Laboratory Medicine and Pathology has an outstanding opportunity for a **Anatomic Pathology Technician** .
WORK SCHEDULE

+ Certified, or certified within two years from the date of hire, at the Technician level by a nationally recognized certifying agency such as the American Society of Clinical Pathologists, the American Society of Clinical Laboratory Scientists or the Microscopy Society of AmericaOR
+ Equivalent education/experience
+ _Desired:_ Knowledge on how to embed and cut histology samples **PRIMARY JOB RESPONSIBILITIES** Under the general supervision of the Histology Supervisor, the licensed Histology technician will perform histotechnology procedures such as processing, embedding, cutting, mounting, and staining of tissue specimens for evaluation and diagnosis by Pathologists.Job duties also include:
+ Processing, embedding, sectioning, staining, mounting of various tissue types processed via FFPE or frozen for evaluation and diagnosis by Pathologists.
+ Perform simple immunohistochemistry procedures.
+ Perform special stains via automation and manual procedures.
+ Demonstrate successful sectioning and angle applications to preserve small tissue samples eliminating tissue exhaustion.
+ Prepare laboratory solutions as needed following standard operations.
+ Monitor, care, and maintain histology instruments.
+ Demonstrate knowledge in selecting applicable tissue quality control meeting quality assurance requirements.
+ Perform simple to complex research projects.
+ Independently and successfully navigate the LIS system to accession patient samples and order test as requested by clinical care team.
+ Familiarity with CAP preparedness and inspection procedures.
+ Must be able to work rotating weekends and holidays to manage cases needing STAT/RUSH processing.
+ Demonstrate successful understanding and care of reagents particularly during spillage.
+ Demonstrate knowledge of general laboratory workflow and processes following standard operations procedures.
