    Magnetic Component Engineering ("MCE"), a subsidiary of Dexter Magnetic Technologies ("Dexter"), manufactures permanent magnets and magnetic assemblies made to demanding customer specification in the aerospace / defense, semiconductor equipment, medical, and industrial end markets. MCE is based in Torrance, CA and operates one 48,000 square foot facility with 85 employees.

    Basic Purpose and Objective of the Position:

    This position is responsible for the activities related to the scheduling of work orders to support the manufacturing operations and customer needs. Each planner will be assigned to a unique set of customers.

    Major Responsibilities - reasonable accommodations may be made to enable individuals with disabilities to perform essential functions:

    + Ensure there is adequate supply to support our internal and customer demands without excess inventory.

    + Review MRP demand signals to determine the correct amount of inventory to order. The decision of how much to order and when to have parts arrive are determined on the price of the product and the customer need.

    + Release work orders within lead time to ensure that customer demand is satisfied.

    + Provide accurate information to sales regarding available material and capacity in response to requests for the feasibility and pricing of new business.

    + Maintain inventory levels in line with company/departmental guidelines.

    + Review new orders and ensure that quality control information and specific customer requirements are entered into the enterprise system. Ensure this information is included in shop floor paperwork.

    + Maintain MRP parameters for Safety Stock, Minimum Order Qty, and Order Multiples for assigned parts.

    + Reports monthly performance of production and inventory status; identify and advise management of risks/opportunities.

    + Proactively foster internal cross -functional relationships in order to drive regional and global strategies for assigned products.

    + Accomplish forward production analysis to ensure accurate business forecasting and product projections.

     

    Salary Range: $65,000-70,000 depending on experience

     

    Education and Experience

     

    + Associate's degree in a related field or equivalent combination of education and experience.

    + 2-4 years related experience

    + Minimum of 2 years of experience MRP planning for a manufacturer.

    + Excellent verbal and written communication skills, negotiation skills, analytical and problem solving skills, and computer skills.

    + Ability to work as a team within planning, other functions, and with other locations worldwide

    + Demonstrates strong analytical and problem-solving skills

    + Knowledge/experience of raw material analysis and tracking systems

    + Proven experience in mitigating supplier delivery, cost, and relationship issues with positive outcome for the company.

    + Ability to facilitate technical and commercial meetings that require multiple cross functional participants.

    Preferred Qualifications

    + All items from Education & Experience above

    + Experience with EPICOR MRP and Shop Floor Control Processes.

    + Proficiency with ERP systems for warehouse management.

    + Lean/6Sigma certification(s)/training

     

    Knowledge/Skills/Abilities

     

    + Excellent problem solving skills: uses rigorous logic and methods to solve problems producing effective solutions to problem statements.

    + Demonstrates a high-level understanding of MRP principles and functionality. Must understand global best practices and be disciplined in executing them consistently.

    + Has a high level of business acumen: Understands policies, practices, technology, trends and information and how those affect the business.

    + Strong office computing skills: i.e. Excel, ERP Data Analysis and the ability to collect and utilize viable data on production status and output.

    + Excellent time management: concentrating effort on priorities and an overall planning, awareness and response to what is due now, short and long term (especially as it applies to lead time).

    + Ability to initiate and complete multiple concurrent projects.
