Description
Our client, a respected non-profit organization committed to making a meaningful impact, is seeking a skilled and detail-oriented Payroll Specialist to manage and process payroll activities. This role is a unique opportunity to blend your payroll expertise with the rewarding experience of working in the non-profit sector.
Responsibilities:
+ Process full-cycle payroll for employees, ensuring accuracy and compliance with federal, state, and local regulations.
+ Maintain and update employee payroll records, including pay rates, tax withholdings, and benefit deductions.
+ Review and verify timekeeping records for accuracy.
+ Calculate payroll adjustments, including bonuses, retro payments, and deductions.
+ Prepare and submit payroll tax filings and reports in compliance with IRS and state agency requirements.
+ Assist with year-end payroll tasks, including preparation and distribution of W-2s.
+ Partner with HR to ensure seamless onboarding, including setup of payroll systems for new hires.
+ Address employee inquiries related to payroll, including pay discrepancies and tax information.
+ Ensure compliance with non-profit payroll requirements, including grant-funded positions and special reporting needs.
+ Support internal and external audits by providing payroll documentation and reports.
Requirements
+ Associate’s or bachelor’s degree in Accounting, Finance, or a related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
+ 3+ years of payroll processing experience, with knowledge of payroll in the non-profit sector preferred.
+ Proficiency with payroll systems (e.g., ADP, Paychex, or other platforms).
+ Strong understanding of payroll laws, compliance requirements, and tax filings.
+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, formulas).
+ Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy in handling sensitive information.
+ Excellent interpersonal and communication skills for working with employees and external partners.
+ Knowledge of grant-funded payroll reporting is a plus.
+ Certified Payroll Professional (CPP) certification is a plus but not required.
