Description
Our client, a respected non-profit organization dedicated to making a difference in the community, is seeking a detail-oriented and organized Accounts Receivable Specialist to join their team. The ideal candidate will bring a passion for supporting a mission-driven organization while ensuring the efficient management of receivables and accurate financial records.
Responsibilities:
+ Process, record, and track incoming payments, including donations, grants, and other revenue sources specific to non-profit operations.
+ Accurately apply payments to appropriate accounts and ensure proper coding in the general ledger.
+ Maintain and reconcile receivable accounts, resolving any discrepancies in a timely manner.
+ Prepare and send invoices and donation acknowledgments to funding partners, members, or clients.
+ Monitor outstanding receivables and follow up on overdue accounts while maintaining positive donor and partner relationships.
+ Collaborate with development or fundraising teams to track pledged funds and ensure accurate reporting.
+ Assist with grant reporting by providing accounts receivable data and maintaining proper documentation.
+ Support the month-end and year-end closing processes, including preparing accounts receivable schedules and reports.
+ Ensure compliance with non-profit financial regulations, policies, and audit requirements.
+ Respond to inquiries related to receivables, donations, and grants from donors, funding agencies, and internal departments.
Requirements
+ Associate or bachelor's degree in Accounting, Finance, Business Administration, or related field preferred, or equivalent experience.
+ 2+ years of accounts receivable experience, preferably in a non-profit environment.
+ Proficiency in accounting software (e.g., QuickBooks, NetSuite, or Blackbaud).
+ Strong knowledge of accounts receivable processes, including fund/donation accounting for non-profits.
+ Excellent organizational and time-management skills to handle multiple revenue streams.
+ Exceptional attention to detail and accuracy.
+ Advanced Microsoft Excel skills (e.g., pivot tables, VLOOKUPs, spreadsheets).
+ Strong interpersonal and communication skills for working with internal teams, donors, and partners.
+ Knowledge of GAAP and financial compliance standards for non-profits is a plus.
